I have read quite a few books by Amelia Smarts, but once again I fooled myself into thinking I could read a little last night and finish it today. No, I stayed up late into the night and read all of it, so today I will be very tired. I really enjoy how she writes domestic discipline couples. Lily and Jesse's story is just another great example of a DD couple written right. Jesse is firm but fair and Lily wants to be good but also is willing to disobey. What I like is that her books aren't some shallow spanking porn, but are sweet and tender, while still being steamy. I really loved this one. It's my new favorite!

Amelia Smarts lives up to her pen name. The FMC , Lily, is the recipient of domestic discipline. This is a standalone story of the romance between a Saloon keeper, Jesse, and a farm girl Lily. There are several other characters in town that I’m sure will be the subjects of other stories in this series. This was a good book, it made me smile. The rating reflects my preference for a deeper stoyline.

I have loved this series of domestic discipline historical stories. Each has had its unique plot tension. In “A Vexing Woman” it was pride; in “Her Gruff Boss” it was innocence on the verge of ignorance; and in “Caught by the Lawman” it was lying. In “His Little Saloon Girl” Lily is determined to get off the farm and perform at the saloon. She desires to be the mythical, “Red Rose” who Jesse calls a “hoax and rumor men spread for kicks.” Saloon women in Porter, Texas in 1898 were women who resorted to prostitution to make their way in the world. Jesse would not allow sweet Lily at just 18yo to work in the saloon albeit to only sing or dance. Because Jesse was 31yo and a widower, he thought he had to hide his feelings for Lily, not knowing that she harbored similar feelings about him. At this time, she is being courted by the town preacher who may have secrets of his own.
If you like spanking as a form of disciplinary love, you will want to read this book full of passion and sweetness with a touch of Daddy/Little. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book.
