Fear and Desire Kindle Edition

I don't want to hurt them. But I will, if it means saving her.

It's my job to train them. To prepare this group of terrified women for the men who will eventually buy them and break them for their perverse pleasures.

I tell myself it's for a purpose. That in the end, their suffering will be what saves other women from the same fate.

But then I see her.
My Laura.

I know the pain I'll be forced to give her will destroy what little bit of soul I have left inside of me. There is no mission, no greater good, that will ever redeem the horror I'll have to inflict on her.

And when she's stolen away from me by the very man I've sacrificed so much to take down, there's nothing I won't do, no one I won't hurt, no corner of the world I won't scour to find her.

Before she's lost to me. Forever.

About the Author

By day I wear the disguise of wife, mother, and overworked employee, but at night I morph into my true form - a recluse with a laptop who would be happy to live in a cave, as long as it had electricity and an espresso machine. My stories will always tell of domination and submission within the embrace of love, though sometimes there's deliciously dark detours along the way.

Hi there! For years, I wrote and hid stories in the computer, convinced that no one would be interested in the twisted musings of my mind. When the internet showed me that there were others who were just as twisted, I decided to come out of the closet.

My men are strong, even when love makes them tender. My women are fierce and independent and will not surrender until they are respected. My stories are about negotiating the dance between the two, until he claims her heart in the end.

Right now, I split my time between being mother, wife, overworked employee, and servent to the cat's every need. Most evenings will find me hiding in my office cave to write, where I only care about my internet signal and the strength of my coffee.

How do you cope when you've been drugged, kidnapped, stripped, chained, thrown into a locked cell, told you're to be sold as a sex slave? That's what's happened to Laura Hurst. She's beyond terrified. How'd she get here? Why her? She's a nurse for god's sake! Who would want her? Little does she know the true danger she's in. Dan Westbury's known Laura nearly all their lives. They grew up together. They've grown closer as the years have gone by. But Dan has secrets of which Laura's totally unaware. The first? He's been a Dom in the BDSM world for a long time. But far worse is the fact that he appears to be part of the world's biggest sex trafficking ring. His current assignment? The Farm, located just a few miles outside the town where he and Laura live. Laura’s capture is Dan's worst nightmare come to life. But he can't do a thing to help her. What's worse? His boss wants things that may be impossible for Dan to provide. Dan’s been a cold, cruel, heartless, uncaring tyrant since he started working for the traffickers. It’s nearly ripped him apart. But the psychopath in charge of this organization may just be what breaks him. In this world, there’s no consent, no safe words, no protection from anyone or anything. There's only violence, merciless punishment, and unrelenting pain. But as desperate as the situation is, there's hope. Laura's not stupid. She's always known Dan was hiding something. Now she knows just what that was. But can she trust Dan? Is what she sees and experiences the truth? Can this be the real Dan? Or are there even more hidden agendas of which she’s totally clueless? As events swirl out of control and chaos descends, plans go very far awry. Everything's in jeopardy. When the unthinkable occurs, the world's turned upside down for everyone involved. Can anything save them? Death and destruction are very real possibilities. Just who and what will be sacrificed? Ultimately, just how much will everyone lose in this seemingly unwinnable war?

Sophie Kisker is an author extraordinaire. She's one of the few authors who's an automatic one-click for me. She’s once again created a story filled with dark eroticism, full of twists and turns, a true roller coaster ride of emotions. I keenly felt each moment of terror, anger, disbelief, every possibility, every swirling emotion at both ends of the spectrum and at every point in between. The despair, utter chaos, small moments of hope, brief snippets of peace, and the totally unexpected ending held me riveted. I fell in love with Dan and Laura and their very real fight to survive in this awful, hate-filled world in which they're immersed. They're so wondrously created but still flawed and very human. Ms. Kisker has created such an extraordinary story filled with mystery, terror, anguish, and uncertainty, yet she still gives us hope. She's exceptionally talented in every way. I give Fear and Desire my very highest recommendation. If I could give this more than 5 stars, I would! Thank you, Ms. Kisker, for creating such an incredible story. I stand in awe of your abilities.

One final note. Please be an informed reader and consumer! This is an ADULT book. It contains explicit language and some extremely dark, nonconsensual/dubious consensual sexual scenes. If you don't enjoy this genre, think hard before buying any book you know you won't enjoy. There are book synopses and reviews available on Goodreads and Amazon. Use these resources. DON'T LEAVE A NEGATIVE REVIEW WHEN YOU KNOW YOU WON'T ENJOY THE BOOK. It's not fair to the author. She works extremely hard to provide a quality work product. If you know you'll object to the book's subject matter before you buy it, you're doing yourself and the author an extreme disservice.

Thanks for reading my review and happy reading!

Deliciously dark and suspenseful! I love a good kidnapping/slavery story!

I really wanted to like this one. The author's story telling skills are superior, and I love a good D/s story. I just had a few too many problems with this one. Though the H, Dan, kept trying to explain to his employers the difference between BDSM that is consensual and flat out rape/abuse, it seemed that the author didn't realize the difference. No one who goes through what Laura did would be not only seemingly unscathed, but turned on for a good part of the time while being raped, whipped, and otherwise terrorized. I just couldn't suspend reality enough to believe that after all the humiliating things that were done to her, Laura would still think she was in love with Dan and they could live HEA. I didn't find any of the book sensual, and found myself tense during the entire read. I would give the author another chance, however.

A very suspenseful story about kidnapping women to be used for the sexual trade industry and auctioned off to very evil rich men. Dan, who is a undercover agent and has infiltrated and is working for the most powerful leader in this industry. Dan tries to keep his sanity by still seeing his long time friend from childhood Laura. She is a nurse at the local hospital and does not realize Dan has very deep feelings for her. Unfortunately Dan has an enemy among the men he is in charge of at the encampment where they are training and getting the kidnapped women ready to be traded at a auction to come. His enemy knows about Lauren and she is kidnapped and brought in to be a slave. Dan has no choice but to pretend he does not care or the entire five years he has spent will be for nothing and they are so close to finishing this. So much happens from there. Dan is a dom and has been taught safe, sane, and consensual and what he has to do to the women and Laura is anything but that. All the women are mistreated so badly and humiliated, beaten, raped and so much more by the men he is with.
The agency Dan works for seems to care more about the big bust and getting the main people more than protecting the innocent women caught in the middle. Dan and his partner are good men made to do terrible things to blend in for this purpose. This story shows the mind games that having to do these terrible things to the women makes Dan so confused and depressed. He shows the terrible mind games that the women go through knowing this is what the rest of their lives are going to be no picket fence, husband and 2.5 children or a career for them just pain and suffering. This story is so dramatic and you can't help but turn page after page trying to see how it will all turn out. Very dark read!

This is a very dark, cruel story. I could see the path of the story at the beginning. Sadly, human trafficking is all too real. At some point I had to skip the middle, read the end , take a breath and then go back. It's also a love story.

This was such a tense and exciting story for me. I read it screwed up into a ball on the couch, anxiously flipping to see what happened to poor Laura next! When things came to a head in the middle of the book, I actually swore out loud and had my family asking me what was wrong. What a roller-coaster ride!

I loved how fresh, immediate and real the characters felt. Dan tries so hard to hold on to his moral compass in a situation that would threaten any man's sanity, much less an experienced dominant who understands the damage being done to the women he has to train. Every time he fought with his superiors to minimize the damage to the women in his "care" my heart broke a little more for him. Laura's discovery of her submissive nature was a bright note in an otherwise deliciously dark story.

Brilliantly told and I only hope that the author returns to Dan and Laura some day to tell more of their story!

A story full of emotions, ranging from fear, betrayal, hate, anger to hope, forgiveness, understanding and ultimately love. This was not always an easy read but one that should be read.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too harsh for me

She is a great writer. I find the whole slavery scene just too harsh for me. The poor heroine suffered the most and the punishments too cruel. I have read some of her other books as she does get your involvement in the book right quick. I could not read the book in one go as I found it too hard to accept what was happening to the heroine. The BDSM scenes were very erotic and totally hot for sure.

5.0 out of 5 stars A well written highly descriptive hot hard story.

I have just finished this wonderfully descriptive, fabulously detailed book and I loved every word of it. The scenes are hot and vivid which ignites the sparks between Laura and Dan. There is lots of well described punishments and abuses. It is not a fluffy story but one about slave traders. It could easily be a true story. This is the first book that I have read by this author but I plan to read more. I highly recommend it.
