Vampire's Kiss: A Vampire Paranormal Romance (Vampire Mafia Monsters Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 1,790 ratings

Immortals rule the night in my world.

They’re dangerous, deadly and occupy the darker side of our city across the river.

I was told stories about them when I was young.

How they prowled the city streets for prey, hiding behind Armani suits and expensive cars. I knew they were real…I’d just never seen them.

Now I’m standing face to face with the most dangerous of their kind, the leader of the Crown City blood-thirty hunters, a Vampire called Elithien.

A creature my father is about to make an ally.

My father, the head of the most dangerous Mafia families in Crown City is dying.

And he thinks these savage monsters will somehow protect me when he’s gone.

Elithien hunts me in the dead of the night, and corners me in a dark alley. He captures my wrists, pressing them against the wall over my head. He kisses me, whispering he wants to tell me the truth about my bloodline.

Only it’s a truth I don’t want to believe.

A truth that will unravel everything I know.

But running from him won’t save me.

Nothing will…

Because these monsters like the chase.

Vampire's Kiss is a
"keep me up all night" kind of read. The constant twists and turns underlined with suspense encouraged me to turn the pages.
And, oh, the sexy as sin vampire clan interested in Ruth? Delicious! I loved how the authors gave so much personality to their descriptions, making each male pop right off the page.
I'm going to need to stake a claim on Elithien, though. He's mine. I'm not sharing. Sorry, Ruth.
I definitely recommend this series to those who enjoy dark paranormal romance with a sexy side of reverse harem. This story is intense with significant world-building and a solid plot that's going to carry on for several books. I can't wait to devour each installment as they appear on my Kindle! ~

This book is freaking awesome! I was so surprised during this read. I kept thinking I knew what was going to happen but I was so wrong. This is so perfect if you are a fan of vampires, the RH genre, and mafia type reads. I felt like I was living through Ruth this entire story. I love to be that engrossed in a book. The build up to the ending is the best. This book has me asking for recommendations of others just like it!, Goodreads Review.

I could not put this book down. We follow Ruth, the daughter of a mafia boss, as she traverses the world of gangsters as a female. She faces sexism and antagonism at every turn and she has to work ten times as hard to be taken seriously only to have those around her put her down, steal her work, and tell her to get married and let the men do their job. Her father calls her Ruth-less and has great pride in her and what she does. After a series of nasty attacks Ruth confronts the vampires that run the other half of the city. As they get to know each other she comes to see them as allies, if not more. This book is a setup to a bigger series that will end up being quite the scorcher. Hot sexy vampires, gangsters, werewolves, and fae all combine into a rollercoaster of a ride. The next books will show us just how Ruthless our Ruth can be and I for one am really looking forward to it. Bring it on!!

Alrighty folks so here it is:
I have some conflicting thoughts about this book.
Pros-The concept is a really good one. There weren’t many errors and I enjoyed the characters and the story line. my favorite part of this book was the last 5 pages (which ends on a small cliffhanger FYI)
Cons- My problem with it is that it comes off a bit disconnected. It doesn’t quite flow as smoothly as it could in my opinion. The first 50% of the book (Litteraly) is a set up for what’s to come but it doesn’t involve the main male characters at all. There was one meet up between 1/4 main males and our female lead and his name was never said nor did we know who it was at that point. I struggled with this because as they introduced the other 3/4 of the men later on, they have a total of one meeting where only one other says actually words to here before the second meeting where the decided she was going to be theirs and all of them were committed to her... like ??? mhmm come again? As mentioned above the last five pages were the best part and well written.... until you get to the last two sentences which feels like a bit of a rushed ending. I mean if they’d taken the time to just write a handful of more sentences than it would have been a different story. And finally there was a discrepancy a few times when there was time jump and the amount of time constantly changed from 8 months to 8 years which was a bit annoying.
All in all I’m still intrigued so I’m going to read the next book but if it’s more of how this was written I’m not sure if I’ll stick around for the rest of the series.

“Who are you?” I whispered. A dangerous smile crossed his lips as he leaned closer. “I’m the monster in the dark, remember? The beast in the shadows, the hunter in the night.”

I'm torn about this one. I enjoyed the beginning and the end of the book but the middle got really muddled for me. I'm not sure if it's a me or the book thing either, being that mafia books aren't my typical genre.

That being said the book left me with so many unanswered questions that I'm going to HAVE to read book 2! LOL

The beginning is very good although Ruth isn't the most relatable character. She's got lots of grit but very little self confidence which I found confusing, but again, this isn't my typical genre so I plugged away through the middle and I'm glad that I did because the ARC for this character was very satisfying - as long as you're okay with the FMC being reduced to an object. It was a little touchy for me when her past rolled in ---TRIGGER WARNING--- there is molestation and intended rape of the FMC but I liked the way the it all played out in the end.

I love the rules for the immortals though, it's well thought out and complicated. Both needed qualities in a good vampire book!

Overall, good book and the ending leaves you craving what happens next.

This is one of the best Vamp romance books I have ever read! I have owned the series for awhile but was reading other books of this fabulous Authors! It has everything in it...Ruth is so strong and yet sexy and she's fighting for what's hers. Then you have these very hot four vampires that all love her! The dialogue is unique. It's haunting and moody and oh so sexy and steamy! If you love vampire romance mixed with organized crime and bad guys and other supernatural beings then this is for you! I'm so hooked!

3 1/2 stars. This is a why choose/reverse harem that has a really good storyline foundation; however, it comes up short. I thought this was going to be a MF paranormal romance per the description but it it not. I enjoy RH but I wasn't expecting it so fair warning. The description is also wrong when it hints at Ruth being used to pay a debt. She is not...

Miss Rose is a fantastic author, and I enjoy reading her work. I have read several books of hers and I have noticed that she is consistent with the errors she makes and the overall issues with her stories. This book is no different....

Possible spoilers ahead...

Ruth is a mafia boss' daughter who is struggling to find her way in a man's world. She meets vampire leader Elithien during a boss meeting between the human mafia and the supe mafias (Vamps, Wolves, Fae) who live on the other side of the river.

Ruth is supposed to be a bad a** FMC but she is lacking. She trusts too easily and completely skips over really bright red flags from people she blindly trusts. I understand she is dealing with trauma, but that should make her more wary and less trusting. She makes several key revelations in trying to figure out who has it out for her but never follows up on them, which is irritating and almost costs her her life. I wanted to scream at her to listen to her instincts!

She develops a relationship with vampires Elithien, Hurrow, Rule, and Justice. We are told what Elithien and Hurrow look like, as well as partially what Justice looks like. However, we are never told what Rule looks like. This is a consistent issue in Ms. Rose's books: lack of character descriptions.

There is ZERO development of a relationship between Ruth and Rule; a little development with Justice; and slightly more with Hurrow. We are just told all of a sudden that without any backstory or relationship development that Ruth wants them all and they want her and boom, they are all in a relationship and they will never let her go. This is also a consistent issue with Ms. Rose's books.

There are places where clearly the person being talked about is Hurrow, but Elithien's name is accidentally used instead. Another consistent inconsistency with this author.

Timeline issue: Ruth is attacked and then there is a time jump of 8 months. However, in several places she says years instead of months, but it is clearly 8 months.

There are several gaps and jumps in the storyline without transition. So they rode in her Bentley but then all of a sudden the Bentley is nowhere in sight and bodyguard Russell's Chrysler is the car they're driving? Another example: there are points where Ruth is not naked and it is made clear but then suddenly they're pulling her panties up... I cannot list all these places with lack of transition consistency, but they are there.

There are places where it's confusing what is actually going on. Ruth describes a person one way but 2 sentences down describes the same person as the complete opposite. Or she says she trusts someone, but turns right around and says she doesn't trust them. Again, I can't list all these issues...

There are some small typos and the wrong words used as well, but those are relatively minor.

The steamy scenes weren't the best or the most descriptive, although a few were decent. Again, issue with lack of description...

I'm frustrated because the basis for the story is solid and with more character development, and less instalove/instarelationship this would be a 5 star book. As it stands, with the errors above, the lack of character descriptions, and lack of relationship building, it's 3.5 stars. I'm not sure if I'm going to read the next book because this book frustrated me. So much potential, but didn't quite hit the mark.

I picked up Vampire's Kiss (Mafia Monsters Series Book 1), having never read anything by Atlas Rose or Kim Faulks, because it blends two of my favourite types of romance books, vampires and the mafia. The book's cover immediately grabbed my attention and the description of the book was so intriguing that I knew that I had to read it. And let me tell you...Vampire's Kiss did not disappoint. The cliffhanger at the end was so shocking that I can hardly wait to read the next book in the series. Thankfully, I don't have to wait as Vampire's Sin (Book 2 of the Mafia Monsters Series) has already released.

I'm not going to lie: I started this book months ago and forced myself to finish reading it because I hate to start a book and not finish it. The first half of the book was painful for me, in the sense that it was so freaking slow I got bored around 25-30% in and stopped reading it and only started again a couple of days ago.

Ruth is one of the most annoying FMCs I've ever encountered. I hated her. She seemed so full of herself (some might call that "confidence" but it didn't feel like it to me).

Everything started to become interesting when Ruth decided to pay a visit to the vampires.
I was truly questioning whether this book was going to be RH or not (even though I read somewhere that it was).
I'm in love with Justice. Definitely my favorite of the four.

And from the moment Ruth met the vampires, I couldn't stop reading the rest of the book. And that ending was insane. Definitely reading book #2
