I loved this cozy, the characters are so well written they seem to leap of the pages. The story line was completely unexpected for me and I loved it. I laughed out loud at parts so I had to make sure I was home alone. Great book

Good read. Like the character development. Fixing to get book two.

This is a great start to a fun new cozy mystery series, the Deepwood Witches Mysteries. This was a neat story about three witches in Deepwood, Orgeon. Emory Chastain owns a herbal shop in town and has a penchant for designer donuts from the shop next door. One day a distressed teenager came in her shop to talk about some visions that she has been having.

As the teen is there, a man staggers into the shop begging for help. He has been magically poisoned and dies there on the floor. The local police are no help because they don't understand the supernatural, despite living in a fairly witchy city. Soon, two more townspeople die, all with the same symptoms and magical signature attached. Emory along with her friends Lene, Veri and the handsome Noah, take the investigation on themselves.

I really enjoyed the pace of the story and it felt like a quick read. The characters are charming (ha ha) and I really am excited to read more about them. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a witchy cozy mystery.

Just the beginning of the story for Emory and her friends and a great little mystery to solve. Can’t wait to learn more about Noah, Mia and of course Lene and Veri. My first time reading Shéa but far from the last. Pick up one of her books and you too will want to stick around for the ending!

See, here is the problem with some of the Cozy mysteries I have been reading lately, they are all rushed and within two-three weeks of meeting someone they tend to become one and all. And I do miss a little bit of heat, I understand it is a Cozy but I would like to see a little more romantic interaction with the main characters.
I love the idea of this story, it was fun, fast paced, and just enough mystery to wonder who the villain is.
Spoilers:
The fact that Emory got angry at Noah for not being 100% truthful is just irritating. Noah knew Emory for 2 whole weeks, like he is supposed to trust her with his deepest darkest secrets? Nu uh. A little childish maybe. But Noah being so in love with her after 2 whole weeks doesn't fit either. Everything just felt a little rushed, not that I wanted a whole bunch of fillers, it just seemed like the story started, we had some excitement and the story ended. I was just expecting a little more to the story line I guess. I will probably read #2 but I am not in a hurry to do so.

This was my first story by Shea Macleod and an enjoyable one it was. A little murder, a little romance, a little paranormal, and a lot of fun. The culprit was not expected, which I always enjoy. I assume as the series continues the characters will achieve more depth as what not AP part in this first book; however, the characters do certainly show that possibility. I look forward to reading more in this series.

Pretty darned good. Interesting premises and characters, but an awful lot of loose ends (not narrative, but character background). Presumably things get less misty in following books? In any case, absolutely worth a read, and a very big step up from the vast majority of witch fiction in general.

A fun, size positive, mystery. Witch turned sleuth, Emery, uses her powers to try and figure out who and what killed the man who died in her shop. Will she and her coven mates discover who is killing the supernatural people in Deepwood. An intriguing love interest enters her store and life too.

After trying several books that just didn’t work for me, I am delighted to find this series. It has all the elements: witchcraft, mystery, evil, romance. Looking forward to book 2.

Welcome to Deepwood, home of many witches and other paranormal creatures. It’s the first book I read by this author, but let me tell you, it won’t be the last!

This is a witchy cosy mystery that's different to those I've read so far, and I really loved it. The story is well written, the plot exciting and the characters are absolutely adorable. There is also some (clean) romance between the FMC Emory Chastain and her love interest Noah Laveux, cousin of Veronique who is one of Emory’s two best friends and coven sisters. The other in the divine triad is Lene (Leh-nuh, not Lenny). These three are three of the few surviving portal witches.

Emory owns a herbal tea shop and loves crystals, Lene owns a bookstore and Veri (short for Veronique owns a lingerie shop that caters especially for plus size women. Together, they make a formidable team. Add to this their human witch friend Edwina, former military, who has some uncanny abilities in letting bodies disappear and getting information, and you’ve just scraped the tip of the iceberg.

I loved so many things about this book. The writing style, the fact that I learned a few new things which greatly appealed to my witchy-nerdy side and the Pink Lady muffin shop, to name but a few. The world building is superb. I was right in it from the very start, all the way to the end. In fact, coming back to mundane reality felt unreal.

I’ve practically devoured this book and I can't wait to read the next in the series! – And then some! If you like witchy cosy mysteries with a unique twist, this book is definitely one you shouldn’t miss.

Emory is a witch in a town filled with them. When a young girl comes to tell her she's had a vision of a man dying, Emory tries to help. This proves to be the first step in her involvement in the mystery.
I wasn't sure about this story at the beginning, but Emory, Noah and her friends grew on me. Interesting world-building and promising storylines. Nice, clean romance too.
