“When I rolled out of bed at the butt crack of dawn, I had no idea my day would start with a missing sheep and end with a dead dude in a crotchless mankini.”

Armed with her newly issued private investigator's license, Maggie Doyle is on the case…of a sheep that went missing twenty-two years ago. When she trips over a dead body on the first day of the investigation, Maggie realizes there’s more to this cold case than a fight over lamb chops.

An invitation to spend the weekend with her grandmother’s oldest friend and her family, the super-wealthy Huffingtons, gives Maggie the perfect excuse to sniff out the killer. After the family patriarch is electrocuted in the swimming pool, Maggie finds herself embroiled in yet another murder inquiry. With the body count rising, can Maggie catch the killer before they strike again?

Editorial Reviews

From the Author

I love reading cozy mysteries where the protagonist has an unusual hobby or profession. When I was planning my cozy mystery series, I wanted the main character to share my interest in old movies. I'm from Dublin, but I spent my summers with my grandparents in a small town in the southwest of Ireland. In their town, there was an abandoned movie theater, and my cousin and I used to sneak inside. I loved the idea of putting that movie theater on my fictional island and having a character renovate it into a café with a movie club attached.
In the third mystery in the series,
How to Murder a Millionaire, I had the opportunity to play with the concept of two potentially connected murders, as well as a limited cast of characters, all of whom had a compelling motive to want one of the murder victims dead. I enjoy Whodunnits, but Whodidntdoits are also fun!

All the titles in the Movie Club Mysteries riff off classic movies.
Dial P For Poison was inspired by Alfred Hitchcock's Dial M For Murder. The second book in the series is called The Postman Always Dies Twice, and it got its name from The Postman Always Rings Twice. Similarly, the title for How to Murder a Millionaire was inspired by How to Marry a Millionaire, starring Marilyn Monroe, Lauren Bacall, and Betty Grable.

Fascinating funny and sort of romantic murder mystery with a lot of twist. I couldn't wait to find out who the killer was.

Great little cozy Irish mystery. The relationship between Maggie and Liam gets better and better. It's refreshing to see how he appreciates and respects her intellect and skills. He may not always agree with how she does things or her getting involved with police cases. That's his job! However he never dismisses outright her observations or theories. Liam seems genuinely amused at finding Maggie in weird situations she sometimes finds herself. I find Liam Reynolds a refreshing change from the "I am man. I protect woman. Why won't you do as I say?" mentality so often used in writing.

The book was well written with great descriptions while not boring you to death with them. There were several places of humor where I did actually laugh out loud. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of this series.

This was a great mystery. It moved at just the right speed. There was a little romance, but nothing vulgar. Characters are interesting, and the story is well written.

on a tiny tourist island in Ireland. Includes a lot of crazy characters , such as a good computer and network technician obsessed by UFOs.

Yes, a five star cozy. I could have done without the kinky parts, but it is well written, holding the reader's interest and with like able main characters.

That is the last one of this series I will waste money on. I like the characters & the way she introduced them, but she always blows the important parts. Too bad she can't see the value in research & editing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Topsy-turvy good

Never expect things to go smoothly when you read one of those cozies, or you’ll be in for a night up.

Topsy-turvy as I like them, this third book is full of surprises and laughs, including Maggie and Lenny going undercover in a rather unconventional fashion.

Another splendid cozy!

I love this book, it has happy bits and I've nearly shed a tear or too. The characters are great and the Mankini just boggles the individual. Can't wait to read the next one 😆

5.0 out of 5 stars I couldn’t put any of the books in this series down!

I came across this series by chance. Even before I finished the first book in the series I was ordering the others to my Kindle. Im now eagerly awaiting the next instalment in the serries! I’m not normally a murder mystery fan but the characters are fun and lovable and you really don’t know who the killer is until late in the book - hard to guess! The setting is amazing and you really do get involved in the community feel. Love them!
