Fool Them Once : A Hot Fake Relationship Romantic Comedy Kindle Edition

Ethan and I did not get off to a great start in our… well in anything, really.

He thought I was a burglar who’d broken into his penthouse in the middle of the night, I thought he was a sexy serial killer who was there to scary-movie-murder me… you get it.

And that was just the beginning. A teaser if you will. Because a mere seven hours later, the loon slipped an arm around my waist, looked me dead in the face, and called me “sweetheart” in front of his grandmother. With, like, no warning whatsoever.

So obviously, when he made me the insane offer of five hundred thousand dollars just to hold his arm at a few family events and play pretend, I politely declined. Because I’ve always made really good, healthy life choices and have fantastic self-preservation instincts. Especially when it comes to suspiciously attractive, wealthy men I barely know making promises that are way too good to be true.

Oh wait, no I don’t. And I definitely said yes.

But it’s fine. I have this all under control. I’m going to be able to pay off my loans, pay back Peter and Jo, and everything is going to be just
fine.

Spoiler alert: everything was, in fact, not going to be fine.

The length is perfect. Not too short like most, but juuust long enough to love the story and get into the plot. The spice Kyra writes is good A F. And i LOVE her style of writing— how she almost does a stream of consciousness word vomit pov. It is perfectly relatable (not overdone or annoying) and helps to really get to know the character quickly.

This was a fun book to read. I love the characters. It has just the right amount of angst. It would be awesome to have a more in the epilogue or see more of them in a future book with other main characters that were peripheral in this one.

This was a great story, I enjoyed the banter, the push and pull and the twists along the way! It was a little more spicy than my preferred read

A book, at last which us not longer, than ut should be, where you can like the main characters, and where people behave rationally in their world. Thanks a lot! Really refreshing.

I didn’t really like the second half of the book I felt like it was dry and didn’t have enough interactions like in the first half… kind of disappointing because I loved other books by this author.

Such a good read! The characters were so much more than your typical rom com. Please get it you’ll be happy you did.

The dialogue in this book is truly so good. I found myself smiling like a goof during so many parts and that’s not common for me. I loved the characters and the connection between them felt very real, not forced at all. I would definitely recommend!

I actually really enjoyed this book. I enjoyed it so much that I went looking for more books by this author. The author did a great job sharing the struggles that women with childhood (emotional) trauma deal with. I'm not sure if I liked that it was low angst, or if I wanted more angst. Either way, I plan to read more from this author.

The one way this author could have earned the fifth star from me would have been to set up who the next book will be about. I'm guessing it will be Mik, but will it be Mik and Grey, or is Grey just too much of a total jerkface. I didn't get good closure on if I hate Grey or not.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's fun but stressful at times
Reviewed in Australia on April 3, 2024
I think I don't like the push pull thing maybe, the relationships and people in them are usually insecure. As someone in the middle of healing my insecure attachment, this takes me back to that insecurity. It's not fun in a romance book, it's stressful. But there were fun parts to this book and the characters, I liked their silliness etc.

5.0 out of 5 stars Instantly added all of this authors work to my TBR

This was one of my favourite reads of the year. It was such a good balance of romance, humour and plot and didn't leave me rolling my eyes at the characters. It didn't feel like it was a checklist of plot points to fit into tropes so you couldn't guess exactly what was going to happen next.
