The Farmer's Bride is book 1 in the Flat River Matchmaker Series by Christina Sterling.

Elizabet Garrett needs a husband. She overhears a mail order brides brutal refusal of a local farmer due to his disability and immediately offers herself instead.

Peter Arkin has had to make many changes since he lost his leg. He wasn't really surprised when the fancy bride that arrives refuses him after seeing his missing leg. But when he has the opportunity to marry the lovely Elizabet, he agrees knowing this may be his only chance for the family he has always wanted.

This is my first book by this author, and I absolutely loved it. The story was incredibly sweet, heartwarming, and well written. The characters were likable and realistic, and there was genuine chemistry between them. I am already looking forward to the next book in the series.

Family relationships can be abrasive but they can be healed if participants are willing...Loved this quick rescue to sweet love relationship. I personally don't know that I would be able to marry someone without having time to meet them and become comfortable with them. I understand that this was a common practice back years ago. It would seem like it would be very scared and the" luck of the draw"! Great story. Talented author

Love a good love story that has real family values--this is it! Real people, with real problems, and they manage to solve them with good sence, and love for each other.

What a great story! I love the time frame these books were written in. I'm not sure I would faired well had I been born back then, but I do so love how most men and women of good character came from that era! This book l is full of precious moments. You will love it!
