Ophelia Wells Langley is a mother to two boys. A mild obsession with Celtic mythology, a strong taste for fantasy, and a penchant for escapism were the basis for her formative years as a writer.

Her goal is simple: create character-driven stories that are inclusive and diverse. She creates lush fantasy worlds that satiate our need for escape from reality.

When she's not writing, plotting, or scheming about her characters, you can find her embracing her theatrical side for her toddlers as a tyrannosaurus rex.

Beautiful fantasy world filled with terrifying secrets.

Beautiful fantasy world filled with terrifying secrets.
I picked up Borderlands Princess after speaking with the author, Ophelia, at a book convention and was immediately intrigued with the details of the storyline. But when she mentioned the heroine was a mid-thirties, curvaceous woman – I couldn’t own this book quick enough!Borderlands Princess contains beautiful elements of a fantasy world that come to life in well written detail. The main character Sorcha is written in a way that draws you in, connecting you through her vulnerable thoughts, witty intelligence, and royal demeanor. I was beguiled immediately, and lived the adventure alongside Sorcha, not stopping to rejoin the real world for two days straight. This book is a must read. If you wish to be captivated by a world of magic, mystery, battles with incredible characters that include dwarfs, brownies, nymphs, shifters and fated mates then grab this book to fall into a world you will not want to leave. I have pre-ordered book two and am anxiously awaiting its arrival.Sidenote – I secretly want a house brownie.

This book is a refreshing read with incredible world building. There is so much detail in the world building and lore of this book that it could easily be a book of it's own. I truly loved this book and it's characters. Ophelia is a master of building sexual tension in this book along with the romantic tension. The main character is a plus size woman in her 30's that tries to embrace the fae culture with an open mind despite being raised to fear them. I seriously believe if you are a fan of Sarah J Maas or Armentrout that you will enjoy this book. There is a wide range of characters including characters that use they/them pronouns and it couldn't have been written in a more respectful manner. This book is definitely a favorite of the year. To further your enjoyment of the book I do recommend reading the prequel "Of Smoke and Shadows". Careful not to fall for the villian.

Good story but I had a really strong feeling of déjà vu when reading the first half of the book. I the line that he keeps repeating is annoying, and unnecessary to repeat it that many times. Will read the 2nd book and see how it goes.

It was an okay book. It honestly took forever to get the pace picked up though. I would say most of the book was very slow. They did have really good descriptions though. I could imagine what the characters and the scenery looked like

I can’t believe I didn’t read this sooner! This book has enriched my soul. The characters are absolutely incredible and the world building…. I could literally picture every single place with ease on this story. The magic and the creatures of all kinds and the fated mates aspect along with the spicy spice was all so so good. I was completely sucked in to this wonderful land and I can’t wait until book 2! Ophelia Wells Langley just became one of my auto buy authors. *clap clap clap* Well Done!!

This line should have been repeated WAY more often for slow people like me to see what was really going on. This whole book I was really irritated because the timelines didn't seem to match up. It all made sense at the end.
I was a little confused at the authors choice of switching styles of writing between POVs (when it was the FMC, everything was from inside her head, when it was the MMC it was from outside his head- first vs third person) because it was jarring, although it did make it easier to tell who we were following in the story. In the end, it made more sense, but as I was going through it, it felt weird.
Overall, a very interesting story, and I'm curious to see where it goes.

Sorcha, a human princess, has always known that she would have to marry the King of the Fae, Achill, to unite the humans and Fae once again. On her trip into Fae land, Sorcha’s attacked and Lord Conall takes it upon him to usher her through his lands as a safety measure so that she arrives to the castle safely. But Sorcha realizes that Conall is an absolute smokeshow, which muddies things. She still must marry the King, but at what cost?

This book has my heart – and I’ve read it twice! I love the lush descriptions of the world and the different types of magic. I absolutely love the brownies (who I would gladly welcome into my home!)

Sorcha is a FMC in her 30s, who’s lived a sheltered life but has some perspective due to her years. Her previous, and only, knowledge of the Fae was when they killed her caretaker, Geannie. Conall gives me grumpy golden retriever and I’m here for it.

A thoroughly enjoyable read – I highly recommend this to any fantasy romance lovers!

“Not everything is as it seems, in the land of the Fae."

Blurb: Princess Sorcha has always been destined to unite the Fae and human kingdoms, so when her betrothal to the High King of Fae becomes official, she accepts her destiny wholeheartedly-that is, until she meets the gallant Lord of the Borderlands. Lord Conall makes her question her future and want more for herself than a marriage-of-alliance. But, when exposed secrets torch her plans, she must choose between upholding her duty or following her dreams. One mistake, one wrong choice and it's not just her heart that will suffer, it's her entire kingdom...

My thoughts: This book was a fun adventure! First off the curvy heroine who I adored immediately. The extremely mysterious main men (if that's what you want to call them 😉) The book has an assortment of magical beings, Ogres, shapeshifters, Pixies and Fae among other things and it really made this story stand out among others. The world building was incredible and the writing style was easy to follow! I got a little confused with timelines going back and forth, But it didn't effect (affect?? I never know!) the story for me at all.

I give The Borderlands Princess by Ophelia Wells Langley ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

So first I absolutely love the fact our FMC Sorcha is in her 30s. She knows her own mind and isn't afraid to tell people what she thinks. Sorcha is also able to admit when she doesn't know something and seeks to gain that knowledge. If you love a strong female lead, a fae lord love interest, more fae, shifters, magic and of course some spice please give The Borderlands Princess a read. I am patiently waiting for Book 2 to continue Sorcha's story.

I really enjoyed the story, it has a good pacing. Though some spelling mistakes threw me out of the story. I enjoyed the interactions between the characters though it felt slightly rushed at a few points. Overall a good read
