Domino Valenciago has turned out to be one of the most fascinating characters in all of Author Sky's repertoire. He was Don Roy Pavalos personal bodyguard, but didn't fit the bill very well. The prologue describes him:

"People always laughed when they heard his name, Domino. Paired with his unique attire and penchant for straw cowboy hats, the moniker attributed to his unique allure as a bodyguard. As a result, people rarely took him seriously upon their first meeting. Who does this mother$#&% think he is? Skeptical men would sometimes ask that very question while strolling from my father’s office—all while Domino himself would watch quietly from the sidelines of the sprawling boardroom they’d been summoned to. The next time they were ever seen again would be in pieces, grimly documented by a medical examiner called to investigate the cause of death. Most determinations were just guesses, of course—wood chipper accident, bear attack, and the average sky diving mishap."

Author Sky highlights this right away to set the tone of the story, and to possibly get us, the reader, off balance. Is he the villian or the hero? It won't be that easy in this tale of revenge. Daughter Ada Pavalos suddenly finds herself locked away under Domino's thumb, being held captive. At first she's shocked to be told she will be sold into slavery. But Author Sky is a pro. She slowly unveils Ada's sins and you realize she's not so innocent, and she's not a pampered princess either. Does she deserve this future?

The book is written completely from Ada's point of view, and while I missed Domino's point of view, I wonder if this is done on purpose by Author Sky. Is she keeping it close to the vest for the next book? Or do we find out that Ada is an unreliable narrator? Ada describes Domino in an almost infatuated way.

"He had an accent retained from a past no one knew anything about. Something from Latin America, maybe Portuguese, or Brazilian. The slight inflection turned every word he said into a double-edged sword, musical almost. Lethal in another sense. He was the only person I ever knew to make a death sentence sound beautiful."

"A simple change of clothing strips Domino Valenciaga of what little disarming charm he had. In its absence, the man is all darkness. Rippling muscle and terrifying strength."

She is fascinated by this man who pushes and pulls her around like a rag doll. Does she indeed fascinate him in the same way he fascinates her?

""His hand cinches my hair, his mouth against my ear. “For so $#&ing long, I’ve wanted you,” he growls. “Always you…”"

""My hands shake so badly I can barely hook them beneath the thin straps of the dress. I’m sloppy and rough, refusing to take my time or give him a show. Instead, I jerk the material over my head and throw it toward his feet. I don’t know why, but it feels more liberating than humiliating to stand here, knowing that I’ve defied at least one of his sick games. I don’t cower. Until he stands. The way he looks at me… My fragile assessment of him shatters. That gleam in his eye isn’t disinterest. It’s predatory. “Stop.” His command sinks into my body, rooting me in place before I even register moving. I’d been poised to take a step back, my foot still hovering above the floor. “Ay, Dios mío. I always want to remember you like this,” he rasps."

Domino goes back and forth, does he hate Ada or have any lingering feelings for her? Why is she so important in his plan of revenge? Author Sky gives us answers that lead to more questions, but in her defense those answers make you feel good about waiting for the next book. That's Author Sky's specialty: giving the reader enough to feel satisfied, and she's a pro at it.

You need to just dive into the book and revel in the cat and mouse game that's played. The dialogue is just so good...dark, smooth and sexy all at once. You will want to wrap yourself up in this book and let it take you to a place of controlled chaos.

Lana, this is interesting, and starting a new series is always a daunting task. Lana has done an amazing job of building a Cartel world steeped in revenge, hatred, criminal activity, and romance. The main couple has so much underlying sexual tension it's a wonder they did not come together sooner and under better circumstances. This a great start, and makes me curious to see where it goes from here. Enjoy.

I always know going into a book by this author that she is going to mess with my mind. Her characters all have an intense backstory that takes on new meaning in their current circumstances.

This is going to be a bumpy ride. I can tell that their are a lot of secrets about to be exposed and no one is safe.

Wow another amazing book from Lana Sky... If you read her before you kinda know what your getting here her Hero's are not very likable they aren't the sunshine and rainbow kind their more of the blood and violence kind but for some reason I fell in love with them...
"You can only live on blood money for so long before the lies and secrets starts to catch up."
This book we have Domino who's waited 5 years to get his revenge on the Pavalos family.. Poor Ada-Maria is Roy Pavalos daughter but she more just his puppet and just living her life and doing whatever her father tells her to do..
No spoilers But trigger warnings .. this is a dark read and Domino isn't afraid to rough Ada-Maria up to get with he wants cause he thinks she a poor little rich girl he doesn't know is she was just another person her father used to get ahead
Wishing the other book was out right now because this book just leaves you wanting more...

If dark romance full of hate, betrayal, vengeance and greed is your thing, you will LOVE this book. Lana Sky will pull your imagination into another world with her writing. She will dissect her characters a layer at a time and you will get to understand why they are as damaged and intriguing as they are; and even if the road is gruesome and grotesque you will crave MORE! You want to hate them and heal them at the same time. Every scene is written in such vivid detail, you can absorb every emotion. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series! Im so excited for Jaguar!

Eh....this wasn't my favorite Lana Any dark Romance novel;she's written much better ones. I started feeling bored halfway through this book ..the chapters are very....skipable. I could tell what was coming even while skimming.

The heroine was dumb, so, so dumb. Sometimes that is not a bad thing, other times...I usually like my heroine's is be strong and stand up for themselves. Usually Lana Sky ones are too, but not Ada.

Sometimes I can see past the Hero's verbal abuse but not this time. The hero just didn't do it for me this time and I had no sympathy for him.

I didn't care about any of the characters in this book. It hit the mark this time.

This story is a dark one. The character of Domino is full of mystery. I’m not sure exactly who he is or what he really is doing. Ada - is she really a pawn? Innocent? I can’t wait to read the next book.

Not sure what it was about this story but it just wasn’t for me. I persevered until the end hoping for something to draw me in to want to read the next book but sadly it didn’t. I found the storyline okay although I found it a little hard to follow. The main character Ada-Maria I just didn’t like her at all. I get the world she lived in bad things have happened to her but she seemed to have done everything willingly and had her father on a pedestal. Domino Valenciaga is our male character, I guess he is out for revenge but it looks like he is avenging someone who didn’t deserve it at all. I didn’t feel any connection with these characters.
