Love, Lies and Lullabies: A Sweet, Small-Town Romance (Blueberry Point Romance Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.2 4.2 out of 5 stars 119 ratings

A class reunion. An unrequited love. And the small-town roots that never let go of the heart.

When big-city accountant Wynne Terry dreamed of her future, it looked like the one she’s living. Then an invitation to her high school reunion lands in her mailbox and curiosity beckons her to return for the first time in fifteen years. It has nothing to do with seeing her childhood best friend who unwittingly stole her heart. At least, that’s what Wynne tells herself.

Chase Ford’s regrets come back to haunt him when Wynne walks into his life again. Marrying the first girl who turned his head in high school was mistake number one. Turning his back on Wynne when she needed him most was another. If it’s forgiveness he’s looking for, Wynne may give it to him. But raising his daughter and keeping the ever-elusive Wynne from turning his loveless life upside down take precedence over pleasing his conscience.

When Wynne discovers there’s more to Chase’s story than she bargained for, she wonders if her heart can stand being broken again. But maybe a once-in-a-lifetime love is worth the risk.

This story is the queen of high school what-ifs. It's common for people to look back to high school friends, crushes, etc and wondering what would happen if they changed one thing or another. When Wynne heads to Blueberry Point for a class reunion she is nervous to see her past best friend/crush Chase, who had married someone else and had a daughter. This story had me smiling and laughing and feeling so very nostalgic for high school. D.E. Malone did such a lovely job writing Love, Lies, and Lullabies to really pull at your heart and get you dreaming. Be prepared to fall head over heels for this story that truly deserves to be on everyone's shelves. If you enjoy good food, be warned, you will come away wanting to try so many yummy things as well. I think I could go for some crepes right about now. I love how this story encapsuled the feelings that come from those high school crushes and wondering on the what ifs later down the road. First loves are something that don't leave your mind easily, and she did such a lovely job showing that.I highly recommend reading this book, as well as the rest of the stories in this series.

I didn’t love this book and can’t quite pin down why not. Didn’t realize it was a series either but felt like a stand alone too.

4.5 stars This was a cute, clean romance with some Hallmark vibes and I loved the second chance/best friends romance trope. Wynne and Chase were inseparable until their senior year of high school when a misunderstanding of feelings tore the two apart. 15 years later, the two reunite at a class reunion in the enchanting town of Hendricks. Wynne and Chase have strong chemistry from the moment they first see each other after all the years apart. I loved that they felt so connected and in sync even while so unsure about their relationship and where they stood after their fall out. It was like time didn't matter when it came to their hearts and I couldn't stop reading until they had their happily ever after. The side characters were all really nice additions to the plot and pacing and I particularly loved Nana's character.
I really enjoyed this romance. It was the perfect sweet read for me and I loved the wholesome content that still gave the cute feels.
I received an advance reader copy of this novel. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Such a cute story!! The nostalgia from Love, Lies and Lullabies was definitely vibing with me. A high school reunion brings Chase and Wynne back into each others lives after fifteen years, forcing each of them to face each other, and the unresolved issues that split their lifelong friendship apart so long ago.

I loved the high school reunion angle! I had my 20 year reunion a few years ago and while I was able to attend I did get to see photos and man did it bring back some memories! I can totally relate to the whole "high school regrets" thing...actually I think most of us can! I had a few crushes that I wish I could go back and tell my feelings to, and I caught myself daydreaming several times while I was reading, wondering if and how my life would be different if I would've acted on those feelings. Suffice to say, I was surprised with what a thought and daydream-provoking read this was for me!

The unique friendship between Chase and Wynne is another relatable bond to this novel. D.E. Malone always does an incredible job of capturing my imagination and Love, Lies and Lullabies is no exception. The writing put me into that world, and made me fall even more in love with this delightful town and its charming inhabitants. It is the perfect length and was a seemingly quick read for me, which is a major plus right now for me.

Love, Lies and Lullabies is an all-around enjoyable read that I highly recommend!

"Love, Lies, and Lullabies" is the third book in the Blueberry Point Romance Series and takes place at the beautiful inn run by Darcy and Sean, characters from D.E. Malone's earlier books in the Hearts in Hendricks Series.

Returning to her hometown from the city for her 15 year class reunion, Wynne is nervous about meeting Chase, her former best friend. The lifelong friends drifted apart their senior year, when Chase began dating a classmate. Devastated that the friend, who she was beginning to like as more than a friend, could love someone else, Wynne set out to conquer the world after high school. Returning to Hendricks is a test to herself, to prove she has moved on from her past--specifically from her feelings for Chase.

But when the two meet again over the long weekend of reunion events, the "chase" is on when memories surface and sparks fly. Even though Wynne is not sure of the relationship status of Chase and the girl who drove them apart, she is sure she still has feelings for him. But will those feelings be reciprocated this time around? Enjoy the "chase," as the two figure out where they stand with each other and what the future holds for them.

"Love, Lies, and Lullabies" is another one of D.E. Malone's sweet romances to add to your list of light, fun reads.

Oh, how I love a good high school reunion romance and I haven't read a lot of them. There's just something so sweet about rediscovering friendships and rekindling sparks that speaks to the heart.

Chase and Wynne were once besties but a few mistakes tore them apart and 15 years later, they've reunited. One itsy, bitsy, teeny, weeny problem for me was the small town mysterious secret that made me a little leery.

I loved the way Malone takes a small town and turns it into something special with characters a reader can get behind. The intricate connections and relationships were interesting and gave off a Hallmark vibe that lead to all kinds of melty hearts and swoons. This is the kind of place that settles deep into my soul.
