This book seemed somewhat familiar, and then I saw that it was a rewrite of a book originally called "The Doctor and the Mechanic", which I had read a long time ago. It was worth a re-reading though, since it has been updated. I frankly didn't remember a lot of details of the story because I read so many books that I can't keep them all straight. The two MCs are Curtis, an ER physician in his mid thirties, but who looks much younger, and Lawrence, a mechanic who is exactly 30 years older. I loved the book, but I do have one misgiving, and it's their very large age difference. I try to imagine what their future will be like as Lawrence advances into old age while Curtis is still strong and energetic. For this reason only, I gave the book 4 stars instead of 5. But putting the age difference aside, the story was very sweet. When they first meet each other, sparks fly and they immediately hook up and make plans to see each other again. But Lawrence's ex had dumped him when he found out that Lawrence is a lowly mechanic. He's afraid that Curtis might do the same if he finds out the truth, and he's already a bit concerned about their large age difference, so he lies to Curtis about what he does for a living. What happens when Curtis discovers the truth? Eventually there comes the big reveal, but after a little bit of angst and anger, they manage to work out their differences and get their HEA. Sweet, sexy romance story with two very likable MCs.

I bought this book because I read Prince of Hearts in a 1001 Nights anthology. The author does a great job of creating characters you care about and other characters you want to beat up. Law and Cur are the characters I watched fall in love. There's the usual angst and self doubt. In my opinion the author created a story that had me concerned and then relieved that the guys worked through the their challenges. In case it matters this is a M/M story.

This was originally a much shorter novella, and I could feel the expansion in the pacing that struggled to hold my interest at times. I liked the story and the characters, but I just felt like it was missing something. I ended up satisfied, but I think I would have enjoyed it more as a shorter novella.

This was a good story. Lawrence and Curtis get along so well even when Lawrence is trying to deny it. They have both been hurt in the past but it takes more for Lawrence to accept that the person he loves will love him for him. There are a lot of coincidence connections in this story that just felt a little too coincidental. I felt for both of these guys as they tried to navigate the others feelings and their own while also making some big changes in their lives.

I received a copy of this book and am giving an honest review

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve said to myself, “I wish this was longer.” or “I want to know more about these characters.” This was the best surprise because I remember saying those exact things when I read the first version of this book.

I love Mr. Carter’s style of writing. He gives a fresh perspective to his stories that I don’t see in a lot of other romance books in this genre. I especially love that he has a way of including those awkward and often embarrassing moments that seem to happen all the time in real life. You know, the ones when the relationship isn’t quite a relationship yet and we’re working hard to make great impressions so the other person will want to stick around? The one’s where if they actually do stick around after seeing what goofs we are we know we better keep them? Yeah, he’s good at those.

This one is a May/Dec romance, I love those.

Lawrence (or Law to Curtis) is the December in this story. Mr. Carter does such a great job of describing him that I could easily picture the sexy Silver Fox mechanic. Law was really hurt by a former lover who shamed him for his profession. It really did some lasting damage and that plays a big role in the relationship he finds himself in with Dr. Curtis Fielding. I might have liked to hear more about this previous relationship because it plays the most significant role in the way Law behaves towards his new lover. I was sad that such an accomplished man would feel the need to hide what he does for a living.

Curtis is of course the May aspect. He’s younger (by a good many years) than Law but knows what he’s attracted to and what he wants out of life and out of a relationship. He’s had some bad experiences with old lovers too but wasn’t in a position to be as emotionally damaged as Law.

I did find the flashing back to the past a tiny bit confusing, but I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more. There were plenty of secondary characters that I hope to hear more about.

A mechanic and a doctor, a significant age gap and even more significant past hurt - a cocktail served with dynamic, dialogue focused narration and interesting secondary characters. I really enjoyed this book! While it could probably use some more descriptions / emotions focus, it was a good read!
The plot of the story was solid, the characters had a few aces up their sleeves and there was plenty of friendly banter to keep me entertained!

Lawrence is a mechanic and Curtis is a doctor and after one hot night together they wanted more. Lawrence thinks he's not good enough for Curtis because of his job and doesn't express his concerns with Curtis. Curtis is very outspoken and he knows what he wants and that is Lawrence. They have great chemistry together and you can see if from start to finish. Their romance is May/December, instant attraction, some angst, funny, sweet, romantic, and sexy times are very hot. I've enjoyed this book and I'm looking forward to the next one this series.

I liked the storyline of the book. The writing had issues for me. Lawrence a doctor falls for a Mechanic named Curtis.
The writing focuses a lot on what if’s and the post for Curtis. Much of the writing seems boring at times giving you nothing relevant to current happenings in the story. The sex scenes were dicey as I’d say because there wasn’t much in the way of description.

I'd read this before when it was a short called The Doctor and the Mechanic, it's now been expanded into a full length story. It was cute as a short and the main theme is still touching but I found it a teensy bit slow at times but I'm glad I read it again, this couple are totally sweet.
