About the Author

Melissa was born and raised in Arizona, she's spent her entire life living across the southern half of the state. She's found that, along with her husband and three children, she prefers the small towns and rural life to feeling packed into a city.

She started reading at a very young age, and her love for series started early, as the first real books she remembers reading is the Boxcar Children series by Gertrude Chandler Warner. Through the years she's found that there's little she won't read, and her tastes vary from westerns, to romance, to sci-fi / fantasy and Horror.

Sadist but not sadistic

Sadist is the Vice President of the Demented Souls, and a man who knows he is judged unfairly by his tattoos and by his MC. He swears he will never settle down with a normal woman, but then has a chance encounter with the only one to change his mind.

Beth is a bit on the shy side with guys. She’s not adventurous, or a risk taker, but there is just something about the handsome tattoo artist that draws her in. She’s just got to figure out if he’s worth fighting for, if what they are building is worth grasping onto and making it real.

Honestly, I read this one because I read a different book in the same series earlier this month. I really enjoyed that while I read them both out of order in their series, that it did not mean that I was lost or confused. This book, while hinting at other character interactions and intertwined storylines, focuses mainly on Sadist and Beth, rather than others. It’s their story first and foremost. I like that idea.

Secondly, the writer’s style is easy to read and digest without too much overthought. It reads like a Sunday afternoon relaxation, complete with a cool glass of tea beside the pool. And the story rocked it. Yes, there is plenty of tension and action, but there are also times where the characters can relax and watch a movie and it seem natural.

My take: read this one. It’s a breath of fresh air in a dark and heady genre.

Refreshing story about a good girl and a bad boy

Beth is a nice girl with a close knit family. Sadist is the VP of the Demented Souls MC. Somehow in spite of their differences they come together. But the differences in their lifestyles and secrets that he must keep will strain their relationship.

As usual, a well told story with great characters, tremendous chemistry and just enough angst to keep the story moving. I always enjoy this authors books. In particular in this book we had 2 adults that work together to resolve issues that are real, not imagined. (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC).

I generally enjoyed all of the books in this series, although Ruger was the best by far. The rest were lighter on action and depth. There were a lot of loose ends, and quite a few unanswered questions that I hope will eventually be taken care of. Still, I do recommend reading all of them, the author writes well and the books are engaging.

I loved this Demented Souls novel. Sadist being the VP and all has alot on his plate so never really consders himself a longterm relationship kind of guy. Beth comes along and changes all of that. She turns Sadist into mush around her he cant get enough. The chemistry between the two was off the charts. The spunk Beth shows proves that she is a match for him.stand alone with HEA. Cant wait for the next.
