Enemies With Benefits: An Enemies-to-Lovers Romance (Loveless Brothers Romance Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.2 4.2 out of 5 stars 15,382 ratings

I don’t love him. I don’t even like him.
I just want him.

Eli Loveless was my nemesis from the first day of kindergarten until we graduated high school. Everything I did, he had to do better - and vice versa. The day he left town was the best day of my life.

Ten years later, the day he came back was the worst.

Now he’s my co-worker.

Grown-up Eli Loveless is sexy as sin. He’s hotter than asphalt in the summer. The irritating kid I once knew is gone, and he’s been replaced by a man with green eyes, perfect abs, and a cocky smile.

It’s bad that I want him. It’s worse that he wants me back.

There are looks. There are smirks. There are smiles that make my panties burst into flame.

And then there’s a shared kiss that leads to the hottest night of my life.

This is no office romance. This is a five-alarm fire.

What’s a girl to do when the man I can’t stand is the one I can’t stop lusting after?

Enter into a friends-with-benefits agreement, of course.

No dates. No relationship. Just blisteringly hot sex, because if there’s one person I could never fall for, it’s Eli....right?

Enemies With Benefits is the first book in the Loveless Brothers series, and can be read as a total standalone. It's for fans of high-heat, low-angst romantic comedies and anyone who enjoys a rivals-to-lovers story. This book also has tons of sibling banter, a workplace romance that smolders, and a small town with tons of charm and quirk. It's steamy, hilarious, and of course it's got a guaranteed HEA. (And yes, it bangs.)

Review

Enemies With Benefits is a smart romance, packed with funny insights and stunning moments of emotion. Ms. Noir knows how to write a salty-sweet Southern girl and her handsome hunk of a counterpart. The story itself is brilliant, at times making you laugh, at times tearing at your heartstrings. It's full of sexual tension that pays off in big way by showing us the fireworks between the characters. Absolutely loved it! Perfect mixture of humor and steam!

Absolutely loved it! Perfect mixture of humor and steam!
This book was perfect! It had all the steam and banter an enemies to lovers book should have, laugh out loud dialogue (both internal and external), and such a lovable family dynamic! This book is longer than your average everyday read, but with the interesting plot and fabulous characters, I never thought it dragged on at any point! I really enjoyed Eli and Violet together cause they had these really intense moments where the tension was through the roof, but they also had soft moments where they were able to get along and help each other out in times of urgent need. I thought the workplace environment of this book was unique unlike the most common workplace romance taking place in an office setting.Eli had me hooked from the beginning, always acting like a gentleman, even if he did have some unpleasant feelings towards Violet. He still cared for her safety by not letting her walk alone on the side of the road in the middle of the night, and he treated her like a lady by doing things like opening doors for her. I adored how he was always able to put his feelings aside and help Violet when she was in need, like with the cake incident. This is the first book in the Loveless Brothers series and I'm already feeling a growing adoration for the family. They're the type that try to get together every Sunday at their mother's house and even though they all seem different and unique, you can tell they're close with all the wisecracking they do with each other. I can't wait to continue the series, especially with Daniel's book next; Rusty was a hoot!Favorite Quote:Even though I spent half my life wishing I never had to see her again and when I got my wish, the world was that much duller. I didn’t know it then. I didn’t come back for her, but she makes me glad I came. -Eli

Honestly, this was such a fun read. I absolutely ate it up. The story was compelling, funny, sexy... you name it. Enemies to loves is my favorite trope and I'm really happy with the way this one panned out.

This wasn't a bad book, but it was definitely too long for a rom-com. It got repetitive but the climax kicked in just in time, and the climax and the ending were quite good and worth the wait. On my wish list is more backstory for the MCs. This story cried out for flashbacks to make me understand why Violet was so hostile toward Eli. Fewer sex scenes and more backstory would have made this perfection.

Now lest you think I'm too negative I must tell you that for the most part I enjoyed this book and thought it was really funny. There are plenty of good things about this story—funny banter, likable cast of characters, swoony Hero, small town setting, foodie content, potential for good series to follow.

I've read this in 2024 so this book was published almost five years ago and I would expect that the author has grown since 2019. I really liked her short story Textual Relations and that's what made me seek out more of her books. I both read this and listened to the audiobook and Ms. Noir's writing style flows like a dream. I also liked the narration. Monika King was spot on as Violet and Tor Thom has a “regular guy” sort of delivery that is perfect for comedy... and his rich baritone is pretty appealing.

Violet and Eli were enemies in School. Both were very competitive and have known each other since the first day of kindergarten. With dreams of their own, they haven’t seen each other since graduation. Fast forward 10 years and they run into one another at a restaurant while Violet is on a date. The story gets interesting fast with several humorous scenes and situations. A real page turner with great character development. So good it’s a must fun read!

Enemies with Benefits was a fun, easy read for me that just flowed well. I think it was a case of finding the right read at the right time for my mood. I liked both main characters a lot and their banter/fighting had me smiling. I really enjoyed the concept of childhood adversaries turned love interests. Insecurities, life obstacles, and shifting perspectives added depth along with the plentiful humor and steam. The story was told in first person, dual POV. No ow/om drama and neither were virgins (it had been 1 year for the h and 6 mos for the H).

I have been in such a mood for banter and a back and forth verbal battle of wits. This read filled that wish for me rather nicely. Violet (h) and Eli (H) could have certainly opened up to each other earlier, but the slow progression of admitting their feelings, even to themselves, worked IMO. As an added bonus, they're newly acquired co-workers so we get a bit of office romance thrown in too. The side characters, esp the Eli's brothers who also have books, also boosted my enjoyment of this book. Their family dynamic was wonderful to read.

There is a brief separation late in the book with the major conflict arising, which wasn't exactly what I thought it would be, but the resolution wasn't drawn out. A sweet HEA, with the promise of this couple being seen in subsequent books, wrapped it all up. This was my first of Ms. Noir's books before and I've since read and liked many others, including more in this series.

I've always loved the enemies to lover's stroke so this was right up my alley. Very steamy. Plot twist. Loved it.

The story revolves around a tantalizing dynamic between the protagonists, whose initial disdain for each other slowly transforms into undeniable attraction. The chemistry between the characters is palpable, making each encounter between them charged with tension and anticipation. The author brilliantly navigates the fine line between love and hate, crafting a romance that's not only believable but irresistible. While the plot follows some familiar beats of the genre, it’s the sharp dialogues and robust character development that elevate this novel above many others in the realm of contemporary romance.

Slow burn to an extent.
I loved this one! It is outside of my normal book zone of Dark Romances, but I liked it.
I will be continuing the series for sure! I can't wait to see how the brothers stories are! ❤️

A fun read, with great characters and excellent chemistry and build up between the MCs. The twist/fight issue when it came up though was cringe-worthy, and considering we're dealing with professional adults, was stupid with a capital S. And cringey. did I mention that? Because it was, the whole situation when it happened and how it was resolved.
That being said, the rest of the book was written so well with such an interesting cast of characters all around that I wouldn't mind reading more by this author.

I'm truly and completely in love with these two sassy lovers. Loved every second reading about Eli and Violet, also the Loveless brothers are something entirely else. Can't wait to read more about them. ✨

Beautifully written, definitely lots of laughs and tears shed during reading it. It stays interesting, and kept me on my toes. Could barely leave the story. And lots of spicy parts in it. 🔥🔥🔥

No spoilers, but if you're a fan of Enemies to Lovers, drama, humor and lots of witty banter, well don't wait to read this one. Worth every second of your time. 🤍
