4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 1,138 ratings

"...Drifter is one of those novels that will eviscerate you because of its powerful meaning. At the same time, it will leave you yearning for more!" - Raeshelle, A Naughty Girl's Novel World

Once, I thought I was meant to be a hero.

I’ve got a tattered American flag and the scars to prove it.

But I survived war just to live in hell.

And it turns out what I really am is a drifter.

A man born to ride through this world alone.

A former nomad who now rides with the Satan’s Knights of Brooklyn.

I'm drifting into a brand new kind of chaos.

The kind with luscious lips and intoxicating eyes.

A girl who doesn't need a hero.

Until she does.

Until her power and control are tragically stripped from her.

But a broken man who dances with the devil isn't meant to save anyone.

From the Author

Dear Reader,
Are you ready to
drift into chaos with me?
I sure hope so.
The first book in a new series is always a little scary for me to write. It starts off with the words flowing freely and then I become vulnerable. I question myself and the characters and I wonder if this series will be accepted, if my readers will fall in love this new group of fictional people.
Then, about a third into writing the book, I think its garbage and I'm ready to give up. I curse like a drunken sailor...yeah, I motherf*ck everything and everyone. At this point of the writing process I should not be allowed to drive--hell, I shouldn't be anywhere in the civilized world.
But, then something beautiful happens and I fall in love with my characters. I begin to have faith in them and their story.
Stryker and Gina's story is unlike anything I've ever written.
Those of you who have read the Tempted Series have an idea of how gritty, raw and detailed I can be.
Let's not forget vulgar.
With that being said, if you are looking for insta-love, fluff or maybe a fairytale...this book is not for you. However, if you are looking for a love story, hot sex, hot bikers, ex-military men, a sassy heroine and a realistic interpretation of the world we live in...well, then I'm your girl.
I have pushed my own boundaries with this book and I'll probably push yours too but, I promise you Stryker and Gina have a beautiful story.
You will curse.
You will scream.
You'll wish you never heard of Janine Infante Bosco.
Then, you'll cry.
But you will also laugh, swoon, take a cold shower and if you stick it out...you will smile.
As with all my other books there are things I'd like you to keep in mind before reading any further...
You are about to enter the unapologetic world of the Satan's Knights.
For those of you who have visited before, you have an idea of what to expect--
Crass talking bikers with no fucking filter.
The grammar won't always be on point and that's because you are now riding with the Satan's Knights and the men wearing the reaper aren't scholars, they're street guys who are rough around the edges...
Their words are just as rough.
You should also know that I struggled with the decision on whether or not to keep some derogatory comments. I was warned to delete them, to swap words and play it safe.
I didn't listen.
Not because I'm a rebel but because my tagline is 'weaving reality into romance and derogatory remarks, crude words, slang, racial and ethnic slurs are real.
It's our reality.
I don't agree with them and I don't like them either.
It's not my intention to insult ANYONE but to only give you the truth.
Always the truth.
The world we live in can sometimes be ugly.
It's up to us to look around and find the beautiful.
Now that we've touched on all the warnings and you're probably scared shit to read it's time for the drinking game.
Grab your favorite bottle of the hard stuff and follow the directions below:
Take one shot if Stryker makes you hot.
Take two shots when Gina makes you cry.
Take three shots whenever you laugh.
When you have about thirty percent left of the book put the bottle down.
Have faith in me.
Have faith in the characters.
Have faith that there is more to the world than ugly.
And when you find the beautiful in Stryker and Gina's story take a selfie and tag me in it!
Take a deep breath and write your review.
Don't pirate this shit either---that's all sorts of ugly.
As always thank you for choosing me you'll never know how much it means to me.
See you on the other side,
Janine

From the very first page Ms. Bosco has woven a powerful and emotionally intense tale that fully immerses readers in a cocoon of painful pasts and hard-fought HEAs. As a series starter it stands strongly on its own but doesn't ignore the world it's spun-off from as war is waging once again for Satan's Knights, only this time the villain is a more dangerous and complex threat to the Club as well as their Spinelli family allies. As the war rages hotter more family gets caught in the crossfire in a story that kept me on a roller coaster ride full of gut-wrenching heartbreak along with moments showing the true power of love.

Stryker's a man carrying a whole lot of guilt, from acts of war he was forced to commit to familial abuse he couldn't rescue his mother from. The pain of feeling as if he wasn't enough, the pain of being a sole survivor, finally put him on the road as a nomad in an attempt to run from that pain but instead it brought him to the Satan's Knights. Standing as their Brother he's now traded one war for another while battling PTSD which Ms. Bosco doesn't sugarcoat in scenes that broke my heart. At his lowest he wanted to end it all with readers witnessing his pain and desolation. Into all this chaos though comes a woman who offers him a glimmer of hope, a woman who he's willing to try to save when she needs him most. With her he finally gets to be a real hero...a hero who's just an average man who loves his woman wholeheartedly. Stryker's a bit rough around the edges when readers first meet him, a man who's lost his way and finds only moments of happiness. The moment he meets Gina though, he clearly comes alive. With her he's playful and charming which leads to scorching encounters that soon had him coming back for more. Their erotic encounters, and the beauty of living he sees in her eyes, has their bond intensifying as the story progresses. His demons are never far behind though but after she's traumatized his understanding of what she's going through not only helps him heal but gives her something to believe in in a tear-inducing conclusion.

Gina's a strong-willed woman who's tried to leave her family's criminal past behind but with her brother ascending to the top she soon finds herself caught in the crosshairs. Gina's got a head for making money in a man's world. She's confident and enjoys beating the boys, making a comfortable life for herself even if it's a lonely one. Meeting Stryker changes her life irrevocably as he challenges her. Theirs is a combustible connection from the start with each trying to outdo the other in a game of pool that had me blushing. Though their encounter was only supposed to be one night it soon led to more as they couldn't get enough of each other. She's drawn to his strength at first but wants to heal the emotional wounds that keep him up at night as her heart soon gets involved. When she becomes a victim of her brother's turf war it's her that needs saving from an event that's brutally yet realistically depicted. It's an event that gave me chills and changed how Gina saw herself. It broke her for awhile but Stryker's support never wavered as the fall-out from this event had big consequences by the end of the story, some good and some bad, but definitely unforgettable.

Ultimately it's the power of love that healed both Gina and Stryker, their unconditional support of each other brought each back from the brink even as it drove them every step of the way. They may look to be opposites early on but it soon becomes clear that they need each other in a relationship that pulls at the heartstrings. Though this book deals with its own issues, events from Eternal Temptations are intertwined into this story which allows characters from that book to show up here. The Satan's Knights once again prove what being a Brother means in acts of solidarity that had me cheering. These men may seem hardened but when any of their own are threatened they are there to help. A few of the Brothers seen in the previous book got more face time here which allowed readers to really get to know them and their compelling personalities. From elder statesman Wolf with his humor and heartfelt honesty, to Cobra who's dealing with a love he can never forget and a sister who was stolen from him, these are characters that left an indelible mark. There's also the truly broken Pipe who's running from his own pain to former sexy playboy Linc whose entire life was stolen when a bomb exploded and it's their stories that I'm most excited for. I also find myself obsessed with new Mob leader, Rocco Spinelli, who seems in over his head and desperate to find people he can trust. It all made for an enthralling and gritty masterpiece that I wholeheartedly recommend! The men in this world made be flawed and a bit rough around the edges, but when it comes to those they love they're the quintessential definition of hero in a story that left me exhausted but fulfilled. With its heart pounding action, scorching sexual interludes, and a second epilogue that will leave readers reeling, this was the perfect start to a series that already has a permanent place on my bookshelf.

Yup, this one’s a real heavy-hitter with the emotions and subject matter. This really reminded me of Tillie Coles’ books in that manner, so if you like her you will probably like this as well. The author did not shy away from tackling such troubling topics but I really think that it was handled beautifully.

The best thing about this book is that Striker and Gina both had lots of depth to their characters and they both experienced tremendous growth throughout the story. They are really well thought out characters and they feel real.

There were, however, a few things I didn’t care for. 1) the weird structure of the first three chapters. It opens with like a “flash forward” scene to the middle of the action, and then the next chapter is from three years ago, and then it cuts back to the present day (but before the events of the first chapter). Stick with one time jump. I get that the first scene was probably there to make you excited and wonder about what’s going to happen next, but then having another time jump afterward was annoying. I also personally think it’s a bit of a dumb gimmick—we’re going to have to re-read the scene in the book, unless it offers new information, I don’t think it’s useful at all. But whatever, some people like the “flash forward” openers so to each their own.

2) the huge info dump at the beginning got pretty confusing. This is the first book I’ve read by the author so I don’t know if there’s a related series that I should have read beforehand, but without knowing anything about it, it was incredibly difficult to figure out who’s who and how X person relates to Y person, etc. It was a lot to get straight.

3) Stryker’s PTSD never really got addressed. The author handled Gina’s trauma wonderfully which I love, but I didn’t like that Stryker’s own trauma basically disappeared in favor of hers. It’s not like his PTSD just magically went away—how was he managing it after he started living with her full-time? Gina has that whole scene where she is freaking out about how she can help him and laments how veterans aren’t supported, so it’s extremely disappointing that that we never see any of that come to fruition. Yes, Gina stabilizes him and gives him something to live for, but it doesn’t change the fact that he can’t sleep through the night or get caught in flashbacks.

Overall, it’s an amazingly good read and the trauma and difficult subject matter is handled so, so well, but I just really wish that Stryker’s healing wasn’t pushed to the wayside in favor of Gina’s.

This was my first read by Janine and I'm hooked!
Drifter was a wonderful, well told story which escalated a bunch of emotions.
I really wanted to hate Stryker because of many of his actions toward his new love Gina, but it's easy to forgive him knowing what runs through his head when his PTS flairs up and you know exactly what he's experienced as a war survivor.
Prepare yourself, there is a scene in this book that some would say, this book requires a trigger warning. What Gina experiences will tear you apart and make you feel sadness, not only for her but for anyone who has ever experienced the things she does. Fear not, Stryker is a hero in his own way, and as an MC biker, you don't need cops to catch the villain, especially not when you could be considered a villain yourself.

This wonderful five star book ends with NO cliffhanger, but prepares you to want to immediately download the second book in the series, because there are characters in this book, you'll want to know more about, and you'll get that chance in the second book.

Side note: if you only want to read a complete series, the fourth and final book has officially been released and this series is complete.
Oh, and I almost forgot to mention, if you love sizzling sex scenes, this book has it!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Be your own hero

This is no romantic story with an MC club as a backdrop. It is hard hitting and gritty at times, with both main characters fighting their own demons.
Apart from Gina and Stryker, you don't really get a feel for the other members of the club, even though they are interactive throughout the story. Two well written characters who learn to find their way.
There is no amusing dialogue or silly antics that you get in other MC books by other authors; this has a certain entertaining realism that they don't.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stryker and Gina
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on August 28, 2022
Another fantastic story from the Satan’s knights MC. Stryker is the first of the nomads stories. He’s has PTSD from his time in Afghanistan like so many Veterans, at night he’s full of nightmares reliving the hell he served in but he’s no longer that soldier, he’s a leather wearing biker in the Satan’s knights MC, one of the nomads Wolf brought home to Jack.
He’s the one that ended up doing a short stretch for possession so he could deliver the message to Blackie, he’s proven his worth to Parrish and co.
There’s more to Stryker than just a brother, just a vet, just a drifter. There’s a lot in his past, childhood that effects him still ( complex PTSD, if I’m not mistaken)
When Gina comes in to his life it’s meant to be a one time thing. Gina is strong and sassy on the outside, she a broken girl pretending to be completely fine with the world. She thinks she can fool everyone until the biker who sees behind those Green eyes. His pretty girl .
