Staying Grounded: (Small town forbidden romance) (a Rocky Harbor novel) Kindle Edition

4.1 4.1 out of 5 stars 248 ratings

After an altercation with a passenger gets posted on social media, pilot Graham Riley must attend anger management classes to get his wings back. Wanting to escape the media frenzy near his home base in Texas, he heads to his adopted parents’ place in Rocky Harbor, Maine.

Needing steadiness in her life and in a relationship, Maggie O’Fallon only dates men with normal 9-5 jobs. But when Graham walks into her office and flashes his charming steel-blue eyes at her, she's at a loss for words. Torn between her ethics and the pull at her heart, she asks Graham to see a different therapist so they can explore the chemistry building up between them. He has everything she’s been looking for… except stability.

When a private investigator produces pictures of the two of them together and threatens to discredit not only Graham, but Maggie’s practice as well, he must decide if he’s going to fight, or take flight, as is his usual pattern.

Battling a lawsuit on land, and his heart in flight, Graham realizes he could lose her forever and must decide what’s more important: the life he thought he wanted, or Maggie.

This book was amazing. It was heartwarming and funny, a few times I actually laughed out loud- and got a few side glances from my  husband.
Graham loves his job and the freedom it gives him.  When one action jeopardizes that freedom, and social media starts eating him alive, he decides to go home and do what he has to to get back to what he loves doing- even if that means more counseling.
Maggie had no idea that the one time she decided to be bold and give out her number to a man, he would walk through her door as a patient.
Maggie doesn't want the relationship she's grown up seeing and Graham's anything but a relationship man, but when attraction hits sometimes you start seeing somethings differently.
This book surprised me! When I thought I knew something it turned out I was wither way off, or I only thought I knew! I was sure that this book was predictable but it wasn't! I loved this book and I loved Graham and Maggie and all the family!! O fell on love with the Riley's and I was on the edge of my seat at the end!!  I can't wait to read about the next Riley!!
A 5/5 for me!!

Staying Grounded is my first book by Marianne Rice. I found it to be a nice, quick read that ended with a HEA. Graham and Maggie seemed to “need” each other right from the start. Both needing that other person to take them out of their comfort zones – and they both do that well!

Would read more book by this author.

Such a perfect book! I fell in love with the characters and it just kept getting better and better. I loved it!!!

Almost 4 stars...it could have been 5. This story had a good foundation and a lot of potential, but Maggie was one of the major let downs for me. She was reckless and careless with her professionalism and I never fully recovered from her. Graham had some life lessons to learn and the notched up BS he encountered seemed to go away as quickly as it started, which was fine, but it was a mere blip and annoying. Their relationship could be so much more than just sex and, just when you think it's taking two steps forward, they go three steps back because of it. The Riley family has so many pieces and moving parts. I think it would be nice to know Luke and Sage's backstory, but maybe it's not important or maybe we'll see them unfold throughout. The level at which characters developed was unbalanced. I love Mrs. Riley. She comes across as a true matriarch and her love for her children, ones who have had bad starts to their lives, is what a mother's love should look like...at least at this view. I'm hopeful the series will grow strong and improve. All in all it was good, but the author just didn't knock it out of the park for me. I wanted to love it, so I'll remain hopeful.

I really enjoyed this book!!! It took me a while to get into it, but I then realized that this book was more than just a nitty-gritty romance story. It was about these two people with a haunted family history and how it has affected their ability to accept love and a relationship.

Graham is a funny, sexy as hell pilot who lands himself in a situation that could jeopardize his career. Maggie steps out of her comfort zone when she first meets him and continues to test her own limits. Couch therapy was a MUST DO!!!

Graham uses his sexy words as a shield and well it works for him! Maggie uses her Degree to analyze what others are NOT saying and turns the tables, taking the attention off of herself.

I have to say that my favorite character in this book was the best friend MacKenzie! She was a riot, and I can see myself as being that type of friend.

This author made me laugh throughout the book and I really loved Graham's sexy flirty talk. But when Maggie decides to take control of the situation, it was explosive!

I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. Give it a chance!!

This book was a great romance, set in a small town in Maine. Both main characters had flawed backgrounds that made them need one another to prove a point. Ms. Rice's writing is smooth, descriptive and takes the reader on a journey into the lives of her characters.
There were love scenes, but they were hot and romantic without being graphic, a difficult task for many authors.
If you are looking for a sweet, character driven novel in a small town, this is a great place to start.
I loved this book and can't wait to read more from this talented author.

This was so much more than a sexy love story. Though I enjoyed every minute of Maggie and Graham's story, I also loved learning about Maggie and her family, as well as the Riley family.

Staying Grounded is my first book by Marianne Rice. This book was a pleasant surprise. Ms Rice has delivered a well-written book. I loved the characters in Staying Grounded, they fit the story perfectly. Graham and Maggie's tale is loaded with humor, drama and sizzle. I enjoyed reading Staying Grounded and look forward to reading more from Marianne Rice in the future. Staying Grounded is book 1 of the Rocky Harbor Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
