Two princes are in love with Lucy. Too bad she's an imposter...
Fired from her waitress gig and desperate for cash, Lucy takes a menial job with Lady Lizzie, who could be her posh, polished twin.
Lady Lizzie has agreed to a hasty marriage of convenience with Prince Cristoph of Fredonia, but needs a pinch of time to tie up loose ends. In the mother of all makeovers, Lucy is abracadabra-ed into Lizzie’s doppelgänger and flies to Fredonia to hold down the fort.
Maybe someone should have warned her that Lady Lizzie has been hooking up with Cristoph’s younger brother — Prince Nicholas — for years. Let the royal games begin!

Whatever.
I stripped off my clothes and tossed them on the floor. My underwear would suit me just fine. I leaned down, set the timer for five minutes and the waters bubbled to life. I placed one foot on the first stair that descended into the tubwhen I remembered Zara and Mr. Philip's lesson: How to be Naked like a European Lady.
I glanced around. I was completely alone. I listened--didn't hear a peep. The windows in the room were high on the walls and covered completely by blinds. And I was finally in Europe--now was as good a time as any. I stepped out of the water, unclipped my front-hook bra, pulled the straps down my shoulders, shrugged out of it and tossed it onto my clothes pile. Shimmied out of my panties and pitched them as well.
I was buck naked in the middle of a room I'd never even been in before, in a filthy rich penthouse condo, in a foreign country. I did a quick happy dance to celebrate my progress in conquering my modesty and then stepped into the tub's soothing waters. "Aah." I sighed, leaned my head back against the tiled side and flinched when that touched the painful bump on my noggin.
I flipped over onto my stomach, placed my arms on top of the hot tub's tiled lip, turned my head to the side and rested one cheek as my legs splayed out behind me. I sighed. "The perfect end to my not-so-perfect day," I said.
"Actually I'd call that the perfect 'rear-end' to my almost perfect day," Nick said.
I snapped my head up and saw him standing in front of me, still dressed in the clothes he wore on the plane, wearing a big fat grin on his face.
"Ack!" I screamed and ducked under the water.

LUCY lost her job as a cocktail waitress when she dumped a pitcher of margaritas on a friend of the new boss. But you won’t believe the job she got!!!!!! Way better than Dog-on-a-Stick! It was advertised as personal assistant, and she was a bit leery, but when the interview was at the penthouse of a really up-scale hotel, she decided to go for it. Soon she was on a plane alone heading for tiny kingdom in Europe dressed to the nines and impersonating minor royalty! Maybe she fudge just a little when she assured them should could handle anything that was thrown at her; after all there was a reason her family called her Lucy instead of Lucille!
She thought the hot jerk who acted like he knew her was a problem until the plane landed to a marching band,a horse and carriage, and a real prince with an engagement ring. And the jerk really wasn’t such a jerk after all, well maybe?
Fun for any age although it does have a PG 13 notice for reason.
The narrator does a good job at narration, at times she does seem child like. When Lucy is in character I would have thought she would have had the airs and tones of Elizbeth but when she is talking she has her own voice which was a little confusing at first. She does have great character voices, once I got past Lucy keeping her voice I always knew who was talking and what they were feeling. Her male voices were as nice as her female ones. Her tones and emotions were pretty good it didn’t take you long to start laughing as Lucy got into one mess and then another. The narrator really bought this to light giving a good listen. There are no background noises, no repeating of words and if any breaks were taken I could not tell. She did have me hook as she portrayed Lucy and her mixed emotions of being Elizabeth trying to be more like her but slipping up and being herself. All in all she made the listen enjoyable and kept me smiling and laughing.
The author gives you a delightful tale of mixed feelings, uneasiness as one women takes on a nation trying to be their princess. She fools so many but at the same time they know something is different. It isn’t easy to lie to so many you have come to love. I thought the author really put some time and thought into this story giving a compelling listen that holds your attention and keeps you laughing and at times on edge. There are a few heart stopping moments as danger comes near. The twists and turns are a delight but at times I thought it was a little long. She does keep the story interesting and at times your heartbreaks why at other times your throat is in your mouth waiting to see the outcome. First one prince pulls her in and then another. I did enjoy the mystery of Nick the handsome hunk who is a big flirt. I loved the scenes on the plan and in the park. I will tell you this one you will fall deeply in love with one man who wants Elizbeth and not so much with the other one. I really enjoyed the many different characters they add so much to the story. It was well worth your time and is totally enjoyable. The ending is heartbreaking and then the author twists it around making you smile big and loving every bit of it.
She has to travel (which she hates), gets proposed to when she lands, faints and feels like she fell down the rabbit hole after she wakes up.
Then there is Nick, as 'Elizabeth' she apparently had a relationship with him. He keeps hitting on her and she's not allowed to get involved. Things are spiraling out of control and now someone wants to kill her too!
Thank goodness this is not really her life and she's getting out soon...or is she? Elizabeth runs away and leaves Lucy in the middle of it. She thinks she can do it, but in the end doesn't. She comes clean and leaves, goes back to her nondescript life in Chicago.
It appears that HEA's are not for Lucy.
Read the book and have a blast! Highly recommended to all!
Lucy was quite entertaining as she stumbled her way through this job. She managed to talk her way out of almost any situation, and managed to catch the attention of more than one guy. Nick was confident and charming and took a keen interest in the new Elizabeth, liking how fun and sassy she was. Crown Prince Cristoph Timmel seemed interested in Elizabeth, but she was uncertain of his intentions.
There were a lot of other characters introduced that fleshed out the story; the Ladies in Waiting, Mr. Philip Philips and even the parental figures in the story. All the Ladies in Waiting were entertaining, trying to guide Lucy through this difficult part of the job, and they formed close relationships because of everything they faced.
The narration by Lesley Ann Fogle didn't win me over, it sounded a little tinny, like she were sitting in a bathroom or something. And some of the voices were a bit odd, maybe a bit too dramatic, but it was still bearable to listen to. There was a couple of suspense moments, that have you trying to figure out who the threat is, but overall it was a light fun read. Some of the story seems unbelievable, but for the sake of a peasant girl, falling for a prince it was really sweet. If you don't mind a read that is amusing but a little silly, you will enjoy this one!
