4.1 4.1 out of 5 stars 68 ratings

Fall Headfirst for this Bewitching Love Story. On the cusp of a trip to the French Riviera, a seemingly happenstance run-in with a witch's grimoire sparks a five-hundred-year-old curse, resulting in a life changing trip through time for one woman and her friends.

Pushed from a cliff while on vacation, Sophia Marcil falls headfirst into a spinning underwater cavern in the Mediterranean Sea, only to resurface in the arms of a handsome 19th Century man.

1859. The Graf of Württemberg is near the Palace of Monaco when the woman of his dreams falls into his lap. He just so happens to be there to court her but when she tries to tell him that she's not the real princess, sparks fly.

Can Sophia and her fated lover overcome a madman hungry for power, thus breaking the witch's curse or will they die as the history books suggest. And just how many times have they tried to find their HEA before?

Historical Witch Fiction meets Time Travel Romance with Echoes of Reincarnation and Death Defying Love. Perfect for fans of A Secret History of Witches, Outlander and Morna's Legacy.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Just barely surfacing from her dangerous travel into the 1800's in the first book, The Temple of Indra's Jewel, Sophia has become part of a lethal adventure in the 1920's. She is haunted by the same curse--the never-broken, deadly hunt for the possession of the Purple Delhi Sapphire, which has been plaguing her lifetimes over. The obsessed, ambiguous psychopath after the treasure (and after Sophia's life) is a man of many faces, each suspect with a personal connection to Sophia. But who is it?" ~ Reviewer Lacey Crowe
~
"Colorful and layered, this tale co opts an astonishing cast with shifting time frames and multiple points of view. The villain, nasty as ever, makes a dramatic entrance, spilling blood and driving this reader to wonder if the wretch will finally get what's coming to him. But first, I had to figure out who he was masquerading as in the present. Plenty of twists, a sprinkle of humor and a whodunit with a surprising ending, Curse reminds me of great old story telling, but with a fresh and vital voice. Hello again, Miss Stapleton." ~ Reviewer A.B Funkhauser

"The surprising twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat and I stayed awake late into the night to find out what was going to happen next." ~ Reviewer Elizabeth Horton-Newton, Author~"If you're a fan of Diana Gabaldon's Outlander Series then you'll love Rachael Stapleton's Time Traveling Series." ~ Reviewer Rebecca

How does one get the love of her life in every reincarnation, only to pass untimely? Curses of course. The Sapphire Witch Book 1 follows the lives of Sofia through time and present and intertwines the past and present seemingly into one world - Sofia's. This book is filled with savory characters and their adventures to uncover the truths but also filled with your anti-heroes on their quest to bring everything down.

Spoiler: Sofia has been wrong before in her previous lives, so how does she know Cullen is the one?

Loved Sophia's story of time travel, love and loss. I'm so glad she was found by Cullen O'Kelly and his family, instead of that narcissist guy Max. Sophia finds love and loss in both time periods. And weird family connections throughout. That sapphire is something else. Can't wait to see where this storyline leads.

I really liked the action and the characters were interesting. But, I had to put it down for a while and when I got back to it, it was difficult to figure out who was who and when. Hopefully this will not be the case in the other books. Thank you author for putting this out for me to find.

Rae Stapleton is a new author to me. I was immediately attracted to the book because of the time travel premise. While this one different then time travels I’ve read in the past it was quite enjoyable.

Sophia is traveling in the French Riviera when dropped from a cliff by her boyfriend she washes ashore in the 19th century and into the arms of Graf Conrad Alexander Ferdinand of Württemberg who believes her to be Princess Sapphira.

There’s a good cast of characters, a curious book of spells, a cursed relic, dreams, an overwhelming sense of déjà vu and a fortuneteller with a serious warning.

This is an interesting well written story to keep you engaged. Sophia is haunted by a dangerous and deadly curse for the possession of the Purple Delhi Sapphire. There’s adventure, danger and mystery to be solved before Sophia can find her happily ever after in this steamy romance.

Thank you Miss Stapleton for this interesting, well written time travel romance.

This was the first book from this author for me and the first time travel book I've read. I quite enjoyed it! I wasn't sure how I would like it but was very pleasantly surprised. College student Sophia is traveling in Europe and falls over a cliff...when she comes to she is in the 19th century...in the body of a princess. Can she make it back to modern time?!?! She is thrown in the middle of a mystery and murder. She finds love in the 19th century, will she want to come back to the modern time!?!? I cant wait to read the second book and find out what happens next. Would recommend it.

Hard to follow, disjointed, erratic, just never able to follow the story once the time travel began.

I really enjoyed this book. The dialogue is realistic and flows. The plot is good and keeps the reader engaged. However, I counted at least 13 grammatical errors indicating it hasn't been edited, or editors no longer know proper grammar. Examples include, I can make due (do), She had never ate (eaten), all though, a like, laying instead of lying, etc. I also hated that the story ends on a cliff hanger. So you don't know how it ends without buying the next and most likely the next 3 books in the series. This tactic to force people to buy additional books is tacky. A book should have resolution. Otherwise I feel like I wasted the 7 hours reading it.
