Reflections on Ideological Conceptions of the Superhero and the MCU (with Jonathan Evans)

Reflections on Ideological Conceptions of the Superhero and the MCU (with Jonathan Evans)

This week, TK is joined by professor and writer Jonathan Evans who shares an adapted version of his 2022 Popular Cultural Association presentation "The MCU versus the Snyderverse: Ideological Conceptions of the Superhero."

Jonathan shares such nuggets of insight as "Superheroes' greatest power is their ability to model for us in the real world the behaviors that we should deem important and want to imitate."

We also discuss Moon Knight, Multiverse of Madness, and all of the doors that the MCU has opened for future storytelling.

    7.3/7.4: A Question of Context and Perspective (Moon Knight S1E03 & S1E04)

I know I'm bloody not alone. This week TK is joined by teacher and theologian Daniel to dig into the big ideas of episodes 3 and 4 of Moon Knight.

We talk about our favorite moments from these two mid-season episodes and discuss how the show diverges from the rest of the MCU in its conceptions of gods and the divine.

Crank2844 ,

Great for MCU fans

It’s always interesting hearing her deep thoughts and opinions on the MCU properties. Her reviews/analysis are well put together and she definitely knows her MCU.
As a big fan, i feel at home here. Ep 6.4 is my personal favorite and I had to save it because it made me laugh a few times.
She also reviews/analyzes other properties (like the Batman), and they’re equally as entertaining.
Overall big fan, and I hope this podcast lives on for a long time.

The Sean Hulk ,

Check this show out!

I love listening to Tara’s thoughts on the MCU. She does a great job of looking at the commentary of what these projects say about humanity, philosophy, and brings a whole new world of depth into just passively watching these films/series.

Great for all levels!

Awesome podcast, the episodes fly by and it seems to having something for both the newer fan like myself and super fans too!
