As top quilt I am amazed at how lightweight this is, and yet how warm it keeps you. You can barely even feel any weight on top of you.
It's generously sized to perform a versatile number of functions.
I've heard complaints from other reviewers on Snugpak products now that they are made in China, versus the UK, but I have seen nothing to evidence that the stitching or materials are suddenly sub-par as result of this. The price has dropped significantly though and that's why I bought this in the first place. (I think the China-haters don't really bring much subjectivity to the table anyway, because they've turned it into a political issue anyway...)
I also have a Snugpak top quilt, which is beefier but sleeps a bit too warm for me. I'll save that for colder temps when it justifies the extra size bulk that it adds.
At roughly the same price and only about 25 grams heavier than the Rothco poncho liner (they both weigh approximately 1.5 lbs.), the Snugpak Jungle Blanket is far superior in quality: it has no loose seams and is made from more durable fabric with an antimicrobial coating on both sides to discourage odors and reduce the frequency of laundering. The outer shell fabric is also impressively water resistant. I held it under a running faucet for thirty seconds and the water ran right off, leaving no hint of dampness. Moreover, it packs slightly smaller than the Rothco poncho liner and comes with a sturdy, functional compression sack that will compact it smaller than a standard 32 oz. Nalgene bottle.
Since I didn't have both the Jungle Blanket and the Rothco poncho liner on hand at the same time, I can't say with absolute certainty which of the two is warmer, but I'm confident there's not a big difference. Either blanket should be adequate to keep warm down to about 50 degrees, assuming you have some way to insulate yourself from the ground as well (i.e., a sleeping pad). The only shortcoming of the Snugpak Jungle Blanket is that it's about 5" narrower than the poncho liner (but still more than large enough to cover my full grown adult frame at 6'0" tall and 185 lbs.). In every other way, the Snugpak Jungle Blanket is far more deserving of its ~$40 price tag. It just looks and performs like a better made piece of gear.
If you're interested in the poncho liner as a camp blanket, I would strongly encourage you to consider the Snugpak Jungle Blanket as a better choice. For almost the same price, it packs a bit smaller, resists odors better, sheds moisture better, is more versatile in application (since the outer shell sheds water so well), and should be more durable as well--all while keeping you just as warm and weighing only a few grams more. Highly recommended!
This blanket is generously sized, yet packs very compact. It is very light but extraordinarily warm. It does not have the anchor points found on a "woobie"; however, after a bit of research, I personally found that these can be added very inexpensively and easily without cutting, altering or damaging the blanket in any way (feel free to contact me if you would like more details and I will be happy to explain the process specifically).
Overall--this blanket is a solid and worthwhile purchase; with some small additions, its utility can be further expanded to make it a truly critical piece of gear.
If I were going to rank these...
Jungle bag would be first.
Blanket second.
Woobie third.
All have the same warmth ratings, and are pretty even there. I have to say, I think the jungle bag has more options.. being able to zip it all up and protect from bugs on your face is an awesome feature for last minute dirt-napping, then you can unzip it to sit/lay on. The blanket is cozy without zippers dangling off of it, but I found myself not using it once I got the sleeping bag. It is a great light weight blanket though, and bonus: if you're a minimalist, this is useful on your bed AND camping, so you can just take your bedding with you.
Don't expect this to save your butt in 45 degrees or anything like that while in a hammock, but inside of a tent? This might actually keep you pretty warm in spring/summer weather.
It really depends on what you want.. if you want an exact woobie for nostalgia, get one. But if you want something slightly more upgraded that packs up a bit smaller, this blanket is it. If you want more versatility, I'd go with the jungle bag.

Lo único malo es que me hubiera gustado que tuviera costura por en medio de las dos mantas que la componen, ya que sólo están unidas por los bordes.
軽くて暖かくかっこいいです。
