1) the outlets are sufficiently spaced to enable plugging in LARGE transformer type plugs without covering up (and thus losing ability to use) other outlets.
2) the unit is white-colored! I have vision challenges, and have difficulty with seeing the outlets in a black circuit breaker (not sure why the trend had been to color equipment black)
3) Anker has a good reputation, and I have no issues so far with any Anker product
The only possible drawback - but not Anker's fault because I knew about it: no USB ports in this model (included in other models). As this surge protector is close to the floor, I didn't expect to use a USB port. However, now I realize I might use one. In the future, I may seek out a model with some USB ports. Despite this, I rate this "5" - it works fine, is ergonomically well designed, and does what it is supposed to do.
I bought it for my TV & game consoles that I have in my bedroom and the number and layout of the outlets is perfect. I’m only using half of them but the others aren’t being blocked by what’s plugged in currently.
I always recommend Anker when it comes to power—whether it’s a rechargeable power bank, a charging brick for my phone, or in this case, for my home theater. They make really good quality products and I’ll continue buying and recommending them.
Easy 5-stars.
There seems to be an ever-increasing number of wall warts, and the layout of the receptacles should handle at least 7. That was important to me.
There is another Anker suppressor that is only a couple of dollars more. It includes 3 USB charging ports. The description mentions rapid charging of iPhone and Galaxy devices. It also has a 4000-joule rating. That model is a little more versatile and only very slightly more expensive. So I would give it 5 stars, and this model gets 4-1/2.
The first point was that I had issues with the seller, I'm not sure what happened but I thought I was getting these from Anker but instead came from Woot. My shipping date was pushed back, and also then delayed in route somewhere. Upon arrival the outside box was beaten up; the strips all came in individual boxing which all looked okay.
Pros: These guys have a nice heft to them and it feels well built to me. I ordered 5; took them all out individually plugged them in and checked every port on each. There's no crazy barrier-type sensation in the ports that I've noticed with other powerstrips. You have 4 light indicators for: (White: Powered on, Blue: Grounded, and Surge Protection x2). Everything was well. Installed one in my room, living room, and 2 in our office (had like 16-17 plugs with like 4-5 old strips covered by 2 of these bad boys). For the most part, large or small plugs didn't clash and take up ports.
Cons: The mounting was a pain; we looked through several of our screws and mounting options the holes aren't anything we're typically used to? I ended up saying forget screw mounting and purchased adhesive command strips stuck two of them on and pressed them on walls under the counters.
I had an issue with one power strip. When I tested them all out at first everything was good. Once I had them setup, one strip once plugged in and had at least one device attached, would show an indicator light for "Grounded protection" even if the strip was powered on or off. Contacted Amazon they couldn't get out an exchange and I really needed these. I've spent the last several days communicating with Anker and besides the delay that occurs from emailing... they've been great. I sent some pictures of the model, then a video showing how the indicator would remain on regardless of the strip switched on and off. Also learned the switching it off and on could could fix the issue, but for me the indicator would go off, but in about 20 seconds it would slowly come back on even in the off position. They wanted me to send the product for their engineers to check and send a replacement, but some return issue happened and they are just sending me a replacement.
TL;DR: Bought several. Shipping + delivery could have been better. Strips feel well built so many ports!! Mounting sucked for me got adhesive strips instead. Had an issue with one strip being faulty, contacted Anker they provided support and replacement is en route. Did have a storm the day after I set some up my devices seem ok. I will update if something drastic happens in the meantime.
The power cable is thick and there are plenty of plugins for all of my devices.
I just wish it was built like a traditional protector (long and somewhat skinny) but it’s a rectangular shape. This isn’t too big of an issue depending on your setup. I just had to pull out my tv stand a little more than I would have liked just so I had enough space to plug in my appliances and have enough room for the protector to lay somewhat flat on the floor.
I would still recommend this purchase for the price and the build quality.
Top reviews from other countries
The build quality isn't its greatest specification. Lightweight, long cord and plenty of plugs.
After using it every day since, having plugged int many different electronics, it has never caused any problems nor hasn't it showed any burning marks.
You could spend more on a power bar but this one makes a decent job and for the price, this is unbeatable.
It feels very lightweight, and cheap - though it does seem to work very well.
My one gripe is that the screw hole in the back is TINY. I had to dig through all my loose screws to find one that would fit in it. Even when I finally found one, it didn't fit well, so I had to keep digging until I found just the right screw. I hope that future models make this bigger - large enough for a drywall screw - but as it sits, it's much too small.
