Product Description
Can I charge my Dell laptop at full speed with this 140W wall charger?
Due to Dell's proprietary charging protocol, Dell XPS 15 (9500/9510), Dell Alienware X14, and Dell Mobile Precision Workstation 5570 can not be charged at full speed with this charger.
How do I charge my device at 140W with this charger?
To charge at 140W, your device must support 140W input, have a Power Delivery 3.1 port, and you must use a 140W-rated USB-C cable.
Why do I see a plug symbol in my MacBook's battery icon when I plug in Anker 717 Charger?
Due to MacBook charging identification, it's normal to see a plug symbol in the battery icon when charging a MacBook with a third-party wall charger. Charging will revert to normal automatically after around one minute.

I didn't use the replacement much for other than charging my phone for about a month no issues. Then I purchased the 737 power bank to accomodate the charger. Once I started using those two in conjunction with each other, the brick started acting weird after a couiple of weeks. Ocassionally not starting up, and needing to sit for a few minutes to work. Other times it seemed like the orientation mattered, or giving the brick a good bump on the table would get it working again (after letting it sit for a few minutes and retrying without success).
Eventually, one day it decided to not work again after I finished charging the battery bank. The brick didn't work the nedxt day either. Even tried the troubleshooting steps from Anker with no luck. After another whole day, i decided to try it, and it decided to work.
This power brick is unreliable, and I am returning it for a refund, and am going to try the only other non-generic brand I could find that outputs 140 Watts on a single USB-c port. The way it acts seems like Anker may have a heat control issue inside the brick. It seems like the heat causes things to warp or disconnect inside, and it starts acting sporadically, getting worse as it heat cycles.
P.S. My review is of this specific product. I have several other Anker chargers and products that I really like, and have had no issues with. It's just this one that seems to be an issue. Customer support also gets 5 stars for trying to help. It's just that ultimately, my use case makes returning this brick my best option.
*edit* They made it right and sent a new one. Great customer service.
Enter this product. It is sturdy and we'll constructed. No arguments there. And I bought the Anker 140W rated USB-C cable in 6 ft length to go with it.
Imagine my surprise, followed by disappointment, when this thing just didn't perform as advertised. Plugging it in, it maxed out at about 90W. No higher. Same errors on the computer about underpowered charger, same battery drain, and never hit even 100W much less the advertised 140W.
Absolutely false advertising on Anker's part. That in itself is disappointing because I've bought many products from them in the past. If you think you're dealing with the Anker of old, you're mistaken. I don't know if someone bought their name or what, but this product does not measure up to its claims. Not even close.
I do not recommend buying this product if you want honest to God 140W charging. Anker should be paying people here to purchase it.
I could list all my uses, but that’d be boring. I don’t use this with a windows laptop, only Apple ones. I really enjoy these bricks & hope the next I get (on sale of course) will be just as good.
I’m not sure if production changed or why so many people are having a bad time with this brick but hopefully they get to use a functional one. I do hope the next gen has 2 ports that both can put out 140w at the same time or a 240w version.
Out of the blue I tried charging my device one time but it wasn't showing as charging, I tried a different cable that I knew worked just in case it was the Anker 140w cable that failed, but it still wasn't charging. Then I tried the 140w cable with my power bank that and it started charging so that singled out the charger as the problem. Tried plugging it directly into the wall with still no luck.
Ended up missing the return window due to a vacation and other things causing distractions.
Keeping it at 2 stars for now because when it worked it worked great and the size is perfect, but hopefully Anker can work with me to either get it replaced or refunded since the Amazon return window is passed.
After responding to an Anker survey, customer service and support sent out a new unit promptly. I updated my review to reflect their help.

EDIT: was contacted by customer service and was provided a replacement charger but from reading all the reviews, I'm not very confident.

I really wanted to like the charger so I went teh aggravation of getting a replacement charger on to have EXACTLY THE SAME EXPERIENCE / PROBLEM.
I try rarely write review but this product is so bad and so unreliable that I wanted to share my experience so that others do have the same disappointment that I have had.
STAY AWAY!
