SureFire G2X Series LED Flashlights with Tough Nitrolon Body
SureFire’s G2X LED illumination tools share many features, such as virtually indestructible high-efficiency LED emitters, 600 lumens of maximum output, precision reflectors, and sleek Nitrolon polymer bodies. Their differences let you select the ideal light for your needs. Choose single- or dual-output. Both of these illumination tools are ideal for outdoor use, emergency preparedness, everyday carry, or use by EMTs and other first responders.
The G2X Pro is a dual-output version that features the same lightweight, ergonomically shaped body. It boasts an identical 600 lumens of high-output, but it also features a useful low-output of 15 lumens that lets you extend the runtime per set of batteries. The G2X Pro comes with a press/click tailcap switch.
Product Description
The G2X Pro is a compact yet powerful polymer-body flashlight that uses a high-efficiency LED--virtually immune to failure since there's no filament to burn out or break--to provide two light output levels: a brilliant, penetrating, perfectly pre-focused 320-lumen beam, and a 15-lumen low-output setting that lets you greatly extend the runtime per set of batteries, an invaluable option when you find yourself miles from civilization. Press the tailcap switch for momentary-on low, press further to click constant-on low, return to off and press or click on again within two seconds for high. The tough Nitrolon polymer body is smoothly sculpted for a comfortable, secure grip and resists scratches, abrasion, and corrosion. A polycarbonate micro-textured reflector delivers a comparatively wider beam with generous peripheral light.

I own and have placed many emergency flashlights all over tin he house, in the garage and in our vehicles. Those are all your typical Costco flashlights which come 3 in a pack at various sizes. However, this has become my EDC or rather ENC (Every Night Carry) when I walk the dog late in the eves. It is tough, light and compact (I have inadvertently dropped it a couple of times and no damage whatsoever so far, but let's not make a habit of this clumsiness) Some folks (myself included) may initially find the claimed lumen light settings a bit on the low side but it really shows its prowess in the dark of the night. The high setting is just fantastic offering a wide radius for such a little flashlight, although it will consume through the batteries very quickly if always used at that setting. When Amazon dropped the price to sub $50 I ordered another one for a shotgun although the two click is not really ideal for a weapon. Let me add that I purchased the first one for about $60 on Amazon. They do also have a one setting tactical option which is perhaps a better fit for a shotgun but I haven't tried that one yet.
Minor gripe which is not a deal breaker, I just wish that it had a lanyard hole but nothing is ever perfect. SureFire does offer a pouch for this at an extra $10 or so, or you can just make one or order a generic one.
The G2X Pro Dual Output light features 2 power levels, low & high. On the low setting it's plenty bright for locating things in a dark house, garage or finding a dropped bolt under the hood of your car. But on the bright setting it will wash out even the Surefire 6P Xenon bulb. The 6P's Xenon bulb is very bright and will wash out the brightest of Maglite's beams by way of comparison. The G2X will light up things over 100 yards away quite nicely. Switching from low-to-high is easy. Push the tailcap button and you get the low power beam. Release and reactivate within 2 seconds and you get the bright high-power beam. If you push the button hard it will turn on the light in its current mode until you push the button again so you don't have to continuously push on the tailcap button.
This isn't a cheap light and it shows in the construction. The body is a Nitrolon polymer that's not as cold to grab as aluminum and nicely contoured for a good grip. The head is machined aluminum with 6 flats to prevent it from rolling easily. The push button on the tailcap is rugged and sealed. The beam is pre-focused so unlike Maglights you can't switch from spot to flood style. But there is plenty of light output.
Cons: Uses 2 CR123A lithium batteries which can be expensive. But you can buy a dozen for between $18-$20 via Amazon at the same time (recommended). Because of the high output capabilities, battery run times can be very short (read the descriptions). These are intended for short, periodic uses (i.e. police tactical flashlights, search & rescue, etc.) and the head/lens area can get too hot to touch if left on for extended periods. Mine is in basic black which is hard to find in the dark. For emergency kits I'd suggest either the Yellow version or the Orange Fire-Rescue version as they are easier to see in low light.
I originally disliked the fact that low mode was first, and I had to double press the rear button to put it on high mode, but honestly it's great now. If I need it to say, check an ID, it's nice not to immediately blind myself, my partner, the person who's ID I'm reading, and everyone in a 1 mile radius... If I need to do that, I have the ability to.
When I eventually lose it, I'm definitely going to buy another one. My only issue with it is that it doesn't come with a pocket clip. You can easily get one for it though, I use the Thyrm low profile carry clip.
