    76 customers mention46 positive30 negative

Customers are mixed about the quality of the mouthpiece. Some mention it's a decent mouthpiece, but seems narrower than the original one. They also say it'd be a nice beginner or replacement mouthpiece for the price. However, others say the ligature is made of very cheap, heavily plated metal, and the material just felt cheap. The corners are sharp, and most reeds don't seem to fit. Overall, customers are mixed opinions about the product's quality.

"...better (didn’t slip off like the Yamaha one), but the mouthpiece was fairly decent. Even the reed was playable...." Read more

"...you look elsewhere, because that was my main concern: the metal appears very brittle and prone to cracking after multiple tighten/loosen cycles...." Read more

"...This product was a perfect replacement when he broke the original mouthpiece. He noticed no difference from the original mouthpiece." Read more

    31 customers mention21 positive10 negative

Customers are mixed about the fit of the mouthpiece. Some mention that it fits fine on a beginner b flat clarinet, while others say that it doesn't fit tightly, the cap that comes with it doesn’t fit snugly, and the top clamp was so tight that they had to take a pair of plyers to tighten it. The mouthpiece seems narrower than the original one and it feels flimsy and does not securely hold the reed in place, resulting in frequent slippage.

"I have my own clarinet and needed a new mouth piece this was a good fit and adorable" Read more

"...mouthpiece needed to be replaced and this one was the right price and fit well...." Read more

"...is made of very cheap, heavily plated metal, and was tightened so much before shipping that it broke through the outer layer of the included reed..." Read more

"...Fits his clarinet perfectly. And although he has only been using it for a short time, seems like a great value for the money." Read more

    18 customers mention0 positive18 negative

Customers are dissatisfied with the sound quality of the clarinet. They mention that the mouthpiece makes them sound really bad, and the reed included wasn't a real re-ed. They also say that the clarinett fails to deliver the rich tones and projection necessary for satisfying playing. Additionally, some mention that it's difficult to play high notes and that the instrument squeaks.

"...I find the clarinet in general doesn't have the sound quality of a better model. However, it is good enough to get by." Read more

"...The high notes were slightly harder to hit, and there was a little more resistance to blowing, overall. I think it was as good as the Vito...." Read more

"...The sound produced is muffled and lacks clarity. It fails to deliver the rich tones and projection necessary for a satisfying playing experience...." Read more

"...When I went to play my clarinet all it did was squeak, I could play any low notes and the only notes I could play were the basic clarion register..." Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for ... OK for a newbie or inexpensive clarinet replacement mouthpiece.
Reviewed in the United States on July 25, 2023
I am an intermediate clarinet player - more toward the beginner end of the spectrum with a few years playing in the band and for personal pleasure. I have an inexpensive clarinet (Vito) and a nicer one (Buffet Evette). I was hoping that this Glory mouthpiece would be better than the Buffet mouthpiece, but it wasn't. The high notes were slightly harder to hit, and there was a little more resistance to blowing, overall. I think it was as good as the Vito. That was all fine - I was actually buying this mouthpiece kit for the ligature, because I needed another one, and getting a "bonus" mouthpiece for all of $12 seemed like a good idea. But it wasn't. Whoever packs these at the factory doesn't know anything about clarinets. The ligature is made of very cheap, heavily plated metal, and was tightened so much before shipping that it broke through the outer layer of the included reed (nice touch!) and splintered it. Not cool. The screws were poorly machined, and ground a bit when tightening them. Moreover, the metal between the screws was actually warped! You can see this in the product pictures on the amazon site, and it is even more apparent on some pictures from the customer reviews. I added a couple of close-ups from the amazon product photos so you can see what I mean. When properly tightened, the ligature should hold the reed firmly on the face of the mouthpiece, but it should not crush the reed, and it certainly should not bend at an acute angle between the screws. So I'm returning mine and getting a Clark Fobes Debut or Yamaha 4C. That's a personal choice. If you have a $150 clarinet, a $30 - $35 mouthpiece is expensive. This Glory mouthpiece would be OK to replace the mouthpiece on an inexpensive clarinet. After all, it did play almost as well as the Buffet. And you can always buy another ligature or reed when needed. I just didn't have the patience for that, and if you, like me, want to buy the Glory kit for just the ligature, I'd suggest you look elsewhere, because that was my main concern: the metal appears very brittle and prone to cracking after multiple tighten/loosen cycles. It was bent around the stress points even before I took it out of the package. Perhaps my expectations were just too high. Your experience may well be different.
