I ordered two of these and broke one almost immediately. Not the seller's fault, and probably not the manufacturer's fault. I was inexperienced with this type of stand, having only used very heavy-duty drum stands and Atlas microphone stands before. It is difficult to see in the photo, but there is a five-inch plastic section of the middle stand that is a squeeze-trigger for height adjustment, and it takes very little force to break it. Besides being fragile, the squeeze-trigger mechanism does not give a firm lock on the upper arm, allowing the boom and mic to rotate around the Z-axis with any bump or cord tug. The seller is A-OK and I will order from him again when I replace the one I broke, but I'll order the sort of heavy-weight stand that I'm used to.
After reading a lot of reviews at various sites, I settled on this tripod boom stand. I used it for the first time this past weekend, and I was so impressed with it, I just ordered another 5 stands for our music team!
Unlike what a previous reviewer wrote, this stand should be able to support the heaviest of mics. I have a Heil PR 35, and it easily supported it. All that needs to be done is to sufficiently tighten the boom arm clutch with the large thumb screw. The clutch has rubber washers in it, which do an excellent job of holding the boom steady.
I really can't believe how heavy this stand is. I had a few other musicians pick it up when it was folded up, and they also couldn't believe it.
The only thing that I could wish would be for the boom arm to telescope out an additional 6 inches. But that's just nit picking, when you consider the price to value ratio of this product.
This is the third of these stands I have purchased. While a hit heavy, they are solid. For me, the clamp at the main vertical stand is super important. I want it to be strong and solid. This fits the bill. I have one cheap stand still to replace to have my band fully equipped.
I needed a microphone stand that would let me help with vocals while playing drum set. This stand came highly recommended and did not disappoint. I appreciate the durability, stability and adjustability.
Bought this mic stand in June 2023. The plastic bottom thumb screw knob for the tripod came off August 2023. Have to use pliers to turn screw to release tripod when setting up and tearing down. Very disappointed with this.
This product is very sturdy and easy to use. I find it to be of very good quality. So far, the only problem I notice is that it tends to slowly droop down if the microphone is too heavy. I tried switching to a much smaller mic and it still droops. I have had to add counterweights to the other side of the boom. Other than that, great product.
