The included 3rd-party software left me disappointed, because both Ableton Live and ProTools First focus more on copying & pasting someone else's loops than on helping you make your own music. But since this is a class compliant MIDI controller, you can use your MIDI software of choice. I've had no problems using the Oxygen 49 with Sekaiju, Anvil Studio, as well as ACID Music Studio 10 and the latest ACID Pro 8.
The LED interface however is not very intuitive and is a little confusing to figure out even if using instructions, but most of what I do does not require it at all. My biggest disappointment though is that the drum pads are not re-assignable, so if you want to change the key assignments that will have to be done directly in your DAW, which is frustrating if you like to use them as articulation keyswitches for tonal instruments.
All in all this is a great entry to mid-level keyboard that works well for a small studio or a musician on the go.
Apart from the drum pads, all the midi controllers (knobs, sliders, buttons) are great: responsive, easy-to-use, and genuinely useful.
Highly recommended.

The second reason is compatibility. MAudio wanted to make sure that the Oxygen 49 MKIV operates as intended with just about every major DAW out there. That means no need for painful syncing of devices, it works perfectly with GarageBand on my Mac – just plug it in and you are good to go.
MAudio’s Oxygen 49 MKIV may not be the flashiest controller out there, nor one that has too many bells and whistles. Yet, it brings something much more valuable to the table: consistency. If you are looking for a reliable controller – with a good build, ease of use and solid controls – then this is a great choice.
The keyboard is great, keys are good, the pads works great. Pad will produce different sound depending on the pressure with which it is hit.
I’m still figuring out a lot of things, currently I only use the pitch, octave and mod, I have to learn to use the knobs, buttons, etc.
That being said, I have used this with both Mac and Windows without problems and in a few different programs like Fruity Loops, Garage Bang, etc. and its mostly plug and play, maybe an "activate" or "turn on" within the application but then its music making time.
The keys have 3 level velocity sensor. Meaning that if you touch a key lightly it will play soft or if you slap the key hard and it will play loud.
As well as a middle zone.
I really enjoy using this to make music, the box it comes in makes it easy with the handle to carry around.
Do note it has only the one USB type B port and you will want to grab a USB A/B cord.
