After the 3 minutes of frustration, I called and spoke with one of the tech support individuals. He asked me to remove the battery, hold the Schlage button on the front of the device, and let it run through it's setup. Did that, and everything went prefect after. I will give it to the fellow on the phone, he was calm, relaxed, and knew exactly what the lock needed to be happy.
Features I love so far:
Auto Lock: I have a horrible habit of leaving my doors unlocked because I live in a very safe neighborhood. This is a bad habit, and this lock fixes that for me.
Lock and Leave: Walk out the door, click the Schlage button, and the lock sets.. Way too easy and convenient if you don't trust the 30 second autolock feature.
30 User codes: This thing has the memory to store up to 30 user codes, and the length of the code can be adjust from 4 to 8 digits. Set up is really easy and streamlined, making it really quick and simple to set one code, repeat the code, set the next code, repeat the second code, all without having to reenter the programmers code. You can continue to enter codes as long as you know which codes you want to enter.
The look, this thing is clean looking and very nice. I have the brushed Nickel on a Hershey chocolate brown door (will add pictures when possible)
The feeling of security: I like knowing that the lock will be set when I leave. I do find a minor fault that the door had no way to verify it is closed before extending the deadbolt, as I can see a guest slamming the deadbolt into the door jamb when they don't realize it is extended even if the door is left open. I think a magnetic alert for the door jamb would be very useful to verify the door is closed before extending the deadbolt.
The 1 bad thing for me:
I am not a fan of the set up instructions and the number codes for setting programmer settings. It is frustrating when it shows to enter the programmers code, and the press 7 for auto lock.. it has a 7----------------------> making it look like you would hold the 7 until it gives a tone.. No.. that is a quick press, not a long press. I spent 10 minutes doing long presses and getting frustrated that the codes wouldn't set.I could have missed that explanation in the instructions. The guy on the phone explained that it was a quick press and done.. After that was explained, I was happy.
