Good for crafters & beginners
Once upon a time, I knew how to use a sewing machine. Some craft projects renewed my interest. Since my primary goals are simple crafts & occasional clothing repairs, a basic machine serves my needs well. I chose this one, based on features, size & weight. It does 10 stitches, mostly different lengths of straight & zig-zag. It is compact; about 2/3 the size of other machines, which fits my finite work space. At a weight of 5 pounds, I have no trouble lifting it, to put it away on a shelf, or take it with me to a class. So far, I have used it to fix a separated seam on a pair of pants, and make a pillow & an appliance cover, from a t-shirt. I have also made a tool roll for my shears. (See pics)I thought the instructions were fairly clear, and the included troubleshooting sheet was helpful (especially if you are out of practice and bound to make mistakes.) The company has a bunch of videos showing how to use this particular machine. I suggest taking a look at these. It does have a few weak points;1) No built-in light. I use a gooseneck magnifier with LED lights, to compensate.2) It’s a bit difficult to thread.3) It has no carry-handle, which seems odd for a portable machine.4) The foot pedal is very smooth on the bottom. So if it is on a wood or tile floor, it can slip away from you. I solved this by putting some adhesive non-slip rubber on it. (You can get it from Amazon; https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FLQO5IU/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 )For light repairs and crafts I like this machine.
