I didn't reach this decision easily.... First I bought a pair of those JOYO Pedal Power Supplies. To be honest, the JOYO (at only $60) was surprisingly GOOD! However, once I realized that it doesn't have isolated outputs, I sent them back.
I then dove into the Pedal Power Supply products research.... The first one that stuck out was the Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2+. It was the one that everyone talked about. But I was NOT impressed. First of all, it ONLY supplies 9v of power. Good luck running your thirsty overdrive pedals. Second, it was weak in the current... 100mA on all but two. Those two were only 250mA. You'll never power up a strymon with that thing. And for $170, I just really would expect much more than that.
For me, this Chameleon turned out to be EXACTLY what I needed. Let me tell you why.
First, it supplies power in four different varieties: 9v DC, 12v DC, 18v DC, and 12v AC. Of course, most of my pedals are 9v DC, but a few of my others like to run hot. I have a Fulltone Fulldrive Mosfet that has different characteristics running at 9, 12, and 18v. I like it at 18.
Second, it supplies 300mA on all outputs. That will run your digital effects such as Strymon pedals. I have two 300mA Strymons so it runs those just fine.
All this a price point of $150. I ended up getting one here on Amazon for the $150 and a second one on ebay for less than $100. Hooked them up on my board and they work like a CHARM. I am powering 13 pedals on my board with a pair of these and I have several outputs to spare.
One of my initial gripes with this power supply was the fact that it has only 5 outputs. (it has 6, but the last two are "one or the other" not both) So I thought you could only connect 5 pedals. The truth is that you are supposed to use the included daisy chain. That's why each output is 300mA. So you can hook up several pedals without overloading. I wondered about the daisy chain creating ground loops. This was NOT the case. It's totally noiseless. So I just rounded up the 5 pedals with low current draw and strung them up. Wah, Volume, Tuner, Compressor, and Boost. All connected into output #1. Output #2 goes to my Hall of Fame Reverb. Output #3 goes to my Ditto Looper. Output 4 is set to 18v and powers my Fulltone Mosfet. Ouput 5 and 6 are empty. My second Fuel Tank is powering my Strymon Big Sky on #1, Strymon Timeline on #2, 3 and 4 are blank, 5 is daisy chained with my Small Stone, Peavey DEP-16, and my Mooer Tremolo.
Do your research. Hopefully, yours will bring you to the same conclusion. This thing is POWERFUL, SILENT, and VERSATILE, all at the right price. What more do you want?
The 300ma outputs on the T-Rex were perfect, and there are even switchable 12v, 18v and AC outputs as well. Took less than 5-minutes to set it up to test it, and only a few more to secure the unit and get it road ready.
Read the specs. If they match your needs, this is a clean, powerful untit with plenty of cables, including easy-to-see AC and high voltage cables, and a daisy chain cable for your low draw pedals.
I had to go with the Chameleon because of it's higher 300mA output, as my multieffects board needed 200 mA. Otherwise, if I only had typical pedals with smaller power needs, I probably would have gone with the Junior or maybe the Classic. Regardless, this thing is built like a tank! It's heavy, but very solid and seems quite durable.
One thing I liked about this model over the other T-Rex Fuel Tank models was this this one seems to be the only one that comes with a HUGE assortment of power cables of varying lengths. I like things to be neat and tidy, and that really helps. I'm very happy with my purchase.

No noise through the amp although the power supply hums slightly as you'd probably expect.
I'm very happy with the power supply and the number of outputs will probably far exceed the depth of my wallet or the size of my pedal board when it comes to adding new pedals.
I like the colour too ;-)
