Product Description

Air Force One uses a pilot signal from the coach’s air brake system to deliver 100%, direct proportional braking. No inertia (adjustable) system can match this braking profile, period. Just as you don’t adjust the individual braking effort of each wheel on the coach, you don’t adjust the braking effort of Air Force One. The towed vehicle experiences the same perfect braking symmetry as each individual brake on the coach. As such, the exhaust brake and transmission retarder have no effect on the Air Force One. Only air brake to meet DOT and chassis regulations.

Great system although car-to-motorhome air line needs protection

Great system although car-to-motorhome air line needs protection
I had this installed on a diesel pusher towing a 2020 Equinox. As a comparison, our last coach with hydraulic brakes had the RoadMaster Brakemaster setup. While the AFO system is working very well there are two small-ish issues. One is that the air line that connects the MH and towed car uses a quick-connector similar to an air compressor fitting but smaller. There is no plastic sleeve around these connectors on the hose to prevent sand and road debris from getting into the quick connects during driving. I've had difficulty getting all the gunk out in order to release the connector (had to get water and hose it down first). After that, I'm none too sure that some sand is still getting into the hose and MH/car fittings which would probably cause issues. The second issue is the indicator lamp attached to the rearview mirror which indicates braking action. It is a red LED which does not display well when viewed through the coach backup camera. The LEDs seem to overload the camera and instead of displaying a red light, it simply appears blacker that anything else on the screen. This, along with the minuscule size of the light on the screen makes it impossible to quickly or easily gauge whether the car brake pedal is depressed while driving. The Roadmaster system did have a sleeve at the ends of the air hose. I'd connect the hose then slide the protective sleeve over the connections and that kept the vast majority of dirt out for 14 years.Including a photo of the AFO hose without protector and the Roadmaster hose with protector.
