- Generous 5.6 foot cord
Eheim Jager TruTemp Submersible Heater
300 Watts
Precisely regulated, constant water temperature is very important for the comfort and success of your aquarium inhabitants. The Jäger TruTemp adjustable heater is an ultra-modern electronic thermal device offering today's best technology. Designed for use in both freshwater and saltwater aquarium, Jäger TruTemp fully-submersible heaters include these great features:
Shatterproof glass construction - Made with laboratory-grade glass, TruTemp heaters are free of pollutants, resistant to chemical and biological substances, and able to withstand extreme temperature fluctuations. Their glass jackets also enlarge the heating surface and ensure even heat distribution.
TruTemp Dial - Temperature can be precisely adjusted from 18° to 34° C (65° to 93° F). Using the TruTemp dial with readjustment ring, the user can recalibrate the heater for a precise temperature reading. Control accuracy is +/- 0.5° C.
Thermo Safety Control - This safety mechanism enables 'running-dry' protection. The heater will shut off when removed from the water, and resume functioning upon return.
On/Off Indicator Light - This convenient feature eliminates guessing and enables the user to verify heater function without getting their hands wet!
Each Jäger TruTemp Heater also includes a mounting bracket and suction cups for secure and flexible placement within your aquarium system. Lastly, an extra long power cord accommodates most applications.

Prior to this, I remember purchasing about five Marineland heaters, and they lasted an average of one year. So it's a definitely an improvement.
The reason I gave it a 4 star is because at this price point, it works well without any issues. However, the temperature adjustment knob is not very accurate so it's hard to set it at a certain temperature. Also, the suction cup doesn't work very well.
This time, instead of purchasing another Eheim, I went with another brand with digital temperature adjustment. Time will tell. Overall, this is a reliable product and I would recommend it. I have an Eheim sump pump and even after 12 years, it runs without any issues.

the heater still works great. i still have it suction cupped diagonally. i did have to recalibrate it once the weather warmed up but i'm pretty sure i didn't do it right. i wanted to lower the temp to 78 and it wouldn't lower so thats when i recalibrated it and i still can't get it to 78 degrees. it stays at a perfect 80 degrees. which isn't a huge deal. i think the weather is just too warm to get it to go below 80. but the fish seem to prefer 80 degrees anyways. something i'm disappointed about is it was hard for me to find instructions on how to recalibrate it, and because of that i think thats why i did it wrong. overall i still think its a good heater. if money is an issue though, there are other heaters that are cheaper and do just as good. but there aren't a ton of other heaters that come in a 125w. most of them are either 100w or 150w, so its definitely a plus that thi one comes in a 125 because for me 100 isn't enough and 150 would probably be too much. i've seen in other reviews people say the suction cups wear out, but i've owned this heater for a year now and it hasn't happened. i don't really know what i'll do if the suction cups give out. i don't know if replacements can be ordered. if they can, at that point, figuring in shipping and stuff it might be more cost effect/the same price to just buy a different heater. i don't really know.
I use these for my red-eared sliders and one of my heaters has been in use for over 2 continuous years now with no dangerous issues. Granted the temperature is off, I'm sure there is a way to calibrate it but don't even worry about it, honestly. You should have another device double-checking your water temperature with every heater. Personally, I use one of those temperature guns after 3+ years of those stupid breakable in-tank thermometers. (They never last) But, all of my Jager heaters have lasted with no issues!!!!
I know I said that they don't shatter, and mine haven't, but for an added safety precaution, I also buy protective covers for my Jager heaters. They are sold on Amazon too and I'm pretty sure they're around $10. Not only will it have added protection if the heater somehow shatters & it gives a little bit of heat protection for my turtles in case they hit their foot on the heater when it was running (it doesn't get that hot, but its more of a peace of mind thing). They come with little suction cups too and I think its worth it.
As general safety tips, make sure you ALWAYS unplug your heater and let it rest a little while before removing to clean. Glass going from hot to cold really quickly could make it shatter!!! No matter how shatter-proof it is! I clean my heaters every time I clean my turtle tanks (2-4ish weeks). Especially with the protective cover I have on mine, dirt can accumulate, so make sure you're cleaning every surface of the heater on cleaning days. Be careful with the water temperature you use to clean it as hot to cold really quickly is again a recipe for shattering your heater!!
In conclusion, I love my Jager heater but you should definitely not trust its exactly temperature measuring as it really isn't accurate. Use another thermometer's reading (or 2 thermometers) to adjust the temperature hotter or colder on your heater. Also look into getting a protective cover, more so if you have sensitive animals such as fish. I have been buying Jager heaters for about 3 years now and I will only buy Jager heaters!

The low water protection is nice and I can confirm it works since I accidentally left it plugged in during a water change once and it survived. 200w seems to work perfect for the 100 gallons of water that I keep in my tank. Definitely recommend this heater! Very consistent temp!
Didn’t need calibration and holds tank temperature steady. Very easy to setup and use. Solid build quality from the glass to the wire.
