Maximum wireless transmission rates are the physical rates derived from IEEE Standard 802.11 specifications. Range and coverage specifications along with the number of connected devices were defined according to test results under normal usage conditions. Actual wireless transmission rate, wireless coverage, and number of connected devices are not guaranteed, and will vary as a result of 1) environmental factors, including building materials, physical objects and obstacles, 2) network conditions, including local interference, volume and density of traffic, product location, network complexity, and network overhead and 3) client limitations, including rated performance, location, connection quality, and client condition. MU-MIMO capability requires both the router and client devices to support MU-MIMO. As compared to warranty duration and tech support services that other leading networking and consumer electronics companies provide.

Looking at the reviews, I picked this one. Sams Club sells this same router for $40 more, so this Amazon price is a good deal. It came quickly. It comes with hook-up diagrams that give you different ways to set it up. One way is to use an app on your smartphone and set it up through the app. We have neighbors who installed a different brand of router at their house recently and tried to use that router's app to configure their router and had all kinds of trouble. When they called me, I suggested not using the app but connecting their computer directly to the router and configuring it that way. It worked for them just fine. Having gone through their experience, I decided to go the direct route and just hook my laptop into this router and do the setup as a direct connection. The documentation that comes with the router shows you how. This router has a step-by-step procedure to set the thing up, so you just go through the steps. On the last step, you have to connect the router to your cable modem so it has access to the Internet. You have to reboot it once - and then you are good to go.
What I like about this router is that it has both 2 ghz and 5 ghz bands you can use. Most everyone in my neighborhood uses the 2 Ghz band and so the channels are crowded. The 5 Ghz band had only one other household using it, so plenty of spare channels available. There are free apps you can download from the google play store for your smartphone to check WiFi signals around your neighborhood, so you can see who is using what band and channel and pick one that you like. But this is for the more technically inclined and you can get by with the defaults that the router sets up for you and you probably won't have any problems. It is useful to change the password in your router and not leave it as the default. That makes it harder to hack for those crappy hackers who want their hands on your personal info and bank accounts.
So, once the router was set up and it connected to the Internet, everything worked great. There is a set of lights on top of the router that show you when everything is working and that you are connected to the Internet. My Amazon Fire TV stick saw the WiFi signal and I set it up on the 5 Ghz band since I was seeing a 100% signal strength. The Nest thermostat also saw the 5 Ghz band, so I have it connected there. Our laptops are too old to use the 5 Ghz band, so they are set up on the 2 Ghz band. Our smartphones see both bands so I am using the 5 Ghz band for those too. Nice to have a choice. So far, after several weeks of operation - no problems at all. This router has been very reliable and I am extremely happy with this purchase.
Support is a joke.. I get them having to go through the proper steps but after trying a few very remedial things they gave up and said they would need me to go through mail support. I am very frustrated tat this point.
I will be contacting my ISP and having them send out there WAP and just keep pinging support until i get a refund a replacement unit. TP Link products have been really good to use in the past, guess I just got a bad one.
Seems to just get overloaded and stops working. OH.. and the logging is a joke.. Diagnostic is just ping and tracert. So no real diagnostic for the device itself. Maybe they have some proprietary way to get in and take a look, but they havent gotten to that. I will be calling back today.. hopefully I can get a replacement unit sent out.. but I think since my ISP will provide a unit I may just request for a refund.
Their policy for replacing your router is to send the broken on in and then they will mail you a new one once they have the old one or your could pay $14.99 and they will send you a new one within a week and you mail the old one back once you have the new one. If you want it sooner then it's $49.99 for 2 days shipping.
I was disappointed to receive a refurbished router with a 90 day warranty. When the old one I'm replacing has 2 years warranty. So not only do you not get a brand new router. You also now only have 90 days warranty. Buyer Beware

We purchased this router because the wifi that came with our cable modem has really bad range, with many dead spots in our apartment. Indeed, the range of the AC-2600 is excelent, and we have no more dead zone issues.
The positives of the router are many. It has a decent amount of configurability without getting so bogged down in the technical and arcane as to make one's head spin. As a blind computer user, I find the Web interface it offers to be, while not perfect, at least very usable and not a problem to someone with a little bit of knowledge of their screen reader. The speed the router is offering us is also very good.
My problem with the router, and this is why I'm giving it a lower review than I would like, is that the wifi is prone to being dropped by my devices. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or eason to the drops, they just happen, and this does get frustrating. I'm hoping that this product still has a shelf-life and that the connectivity issues will be addressed in a firmware update. I can live with the wifi drops, at least for now, because in all other respects this has turned out to be a very satisfactory purchase for us. If you want information about Internet-intensive gaming or video streaming, this review isn't for you. But I do hope that if you're shopping for a router, it has been helpful. I also really hope that TP-Link is able and willing to address the connectivity issues, since this really is a nice router.
