Customers like the quality of the disc lock. They say it's a dependable item, made of heavy duty steel, and is a great theft deterrent. The lock is also easy to use and a good choice for locking disc brakes. However, some customers mention that the lock is not universal.

Customers like the portability of the lock. They mention it's heavy duty steel, yet not too heavy to keep around on the motorcycle on day trips. Some mention that the lock is solid, heavy, and of German quality, but a little annoying to use.

Customers are mixed about the noise of the lock. Some mention that the alarm is very loud and would defiantly scare off a would be thief if it sounded, while others say that it works, but is not very loud.

Customers are mixed about the alarm. Some mention that it never gives a false alarm, it gives ear-splitting beeps before the alarm goes off, and the quality of the assembly is low. Others say that the alarm is only useful if the thief decides to put his ear on the lock. The 2 second set-up time is way too short.

"...Because the arming cycle is so short, it is very easy to set off the alarm while trying to get the lock into place, or even remove the key...." Read more
"...The yellow is a great standout colour. The alarm is average and could be louder. Overall happy with the product and it’s quality...." Read more
"...Need 2.1 seconds? Too bad, here comes the ear-splitting alarm...." Read more
Customers are mixed about the ease of use of the lock. Some mention that it works great, is easy to put into place, and dependable, while others say that it's fiddly to get started on some bikes, and very easy to set off the alarm while trying to get the lock, making it user unfriendly. The cycle is so short, it is very easy for the lock to set the alarm off while trying, which can be a benefit keeping someone away if they're not accustomed to it. The programming is extremely lazy and there is little or no user testing, making the lock much more annoying to use than disc locks with the key.
"...The problem is that it begins the arming process as soon as the brake rotor pushes up the ball bearing, and then it only gives you TWO seconds to..." Read more

"...The lock is quite heavy. It's a little hard to set it up because the alarm turns on so quickly before I even have a chance to take the key out...." Read more
Customers are mixed about the size of the lock. Some mention it's heavy and solid, yet still small enough to fit underneath their passenger seat. However, some customers say it doesn't fit their Multistrada 1200 front disc, or a Yamaha R6 or Honda Grom.
"...Heavy, and solid, yet still small enough to fit underneath my passenger seat on my 2016 FZ-07...." Read more
"This does not fit a Yamaha R6 or Honda Grom. Otherwise, it's aight but $160 is a lot" Read more

However, the coding on the alarm has one baffling flaw. When the lock senses that it has been installed, it arms itself within 5 seconds. As I said, this lock is not too difficult to put into place, however it does take some adjusting at times to get it into position, especially when used with a safety cable (which you should always use as a backup, even though the alarm would probably prevent you from riding off if you forgot to remove the lock).
Because the arming cycle is so short, it is very easy to set off the alarm while trying to get the lock into place, or even remove the key. This is absolutely a poor design decision. No one is going to try to steal my bike while I am standing beside it (if this does happen I have a bigger problem to deal with). It would be completely find to increase the arming time to 10 or even 30 seconds. OR, have the LED signal that alarm is armed, but have a timeout of 30 seconds on the alarm itself.
Get this right in the next version, ABUS, and you have a 5-star product.
The device itself is a testy little punk, exactly as it should be. If someone brushes against your vehicle while getting their bike out of a rack it's probably not going off; your neighbors won't hate you. But anything more than that and it gets properly cranky. Definitely have to put it on last and take it off first, being quick with your key.
Is it bombproof? I don't know; someone somewhere has probably figured out how to jack anything. But it makes sense for our apartment living, as the noise matters and it also keeps someone from rolling off with the moped if they manage to get through the chain or rack.
The lock itself can be really finicky to get on your bike since it is a bit on the large side, and to engage the lock. You have to leave the key inserted. Once you have the lock closed, you have five seconds to remove your key before the dang thing goes off. It's also rather important that you heed the warning in the instructions that you make sure the sensor ball isn't resting on one of the vent holes on your disc, or it will go off on it's own.
Even with the minor quibbles I've had, I still don't regret my purchase. Plus, the flashing red light that shows it's armed, I'd imagine would be a fairly decent deterrent! So, when you do decide to get this lock, just keep in mind that it's rather large, and won't fit -all- motorcycles. As I use this lock more, I'll be updating the review in about a months time.

I have been using it for the last 3 years
Sturdy a bit big to carry around but I rather be safe then sorry
AA batteries. how long they last or indication on when to replace them. i do recommend this lock as it is much sturdier them most of the competition on the market even that it cost more than most that i saw at time of purchase.
