Product Description

The ED2000 functions by wrapping two antenna cables around the main water pipe to form a coil, creating a complex, frequency modulated, electronic magnetic waveform. This induces an oscillating electric field into the water, resulting in the agitation of water molecules sufficient enough to trigger the release of carbon dioxide and cause the premature precipitation of calcium bicarbonate. This process naturally results in a small increase in solubility, which allows the now unsaturated water to dissolve existing scale deposits and remove them from the water system. The treated water will also allow soap to lather up more effectively, leaving skin feeling smoother and hair more manageable. For water over 25 grains of hardness, it's recommended to use traditional water soften in addition to the ED2000. Water with high iron content (over 0. 3ppm) should use an iron removal filter prior to the ED2000. Homes with water mains over 1" but less than 1. 5" may need to use two ED2000 side by side, and water traveling more than 50 feet may require an additional ED2000 farther down the plumbing line. Testing in progress - Does it even work? Let's find out!
I'll be the first to admit that I like to try odd-ball things, like essential oils and woolen dryer balls, in the hopes of finding a more environmentally-friendly and wallet-saving way of solving modern problems. But I'll also admit that most of these "new-fangled thingymabobs" are more often that not, just a waste of money. For the cost of this device and the promise made, it's either one of those two: An amazing, ingenius, cost-saving contraption or a complete waste of money. If it works at all, then it's not a waste. If it provides no improvement, then it's a scam and I'll ask for my money back. So, in an effort to approach this scientifically, I'm going to outline how I installed it, how I tested it, and whether or not I see any changes in the quality of my household water supply. Let's begin. As my recently-purchased house came with an external water connection for a whole-house water filter system, and living in Central Texas we have no crawlspaces or other easy access to water suppy pipes, I decided to install this device on the outside of my house. To protect it from the elements, I purchased an Heavy Duty Weather Proof Multi Purpose Enclosure Amphenol Broadband 9 x 9 x 4 (Amazon Part # B01N4FSKZM) which fit the device perfectly. (see photographs.) I mounted the device within the box, using wood screws and washers, and it's snug as a bug in a box. (Note, after reading comments and questions on this device, I can see where the manufacturer states that this device is only for indoors installation.) I then mounted the box to the side of my house with the included screws. Wound the wires as instructed (the provided instructions are a little confusing) and secured with my own zip ties. I used 4 clear instead of the provided 2 black. Again, see pictures. Note that my water flow goes down into the ground.Day 1. The device is connected, powered, and the little green lights are blinking. I can't help but imagine Napoleon Dynamite putting his crystals in the time traveling device and hoping for the best. But we'll see. I also purchased a Health Metric brand EC (Electric Conductivity) & TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) Water Tester (Amazon Part # B01FPG89CE) to perform my own testing. I tested the calibration on the tester using a bottle of super high quality Great Value Purified Drinking Water: TDS: 21 ppm, EC: 42 mS/cm. I then tested a cup from my kitchen faucet: TDS 315 ppm, 630 mS/cm. I also retrieved the Central Texas Water Quality report from my local government, which states that last year's tests show my city having 15-26 Average Hardness, and 390-470 Average TDS.What does all this mean? While I'm no water quality expert, I can tell you that the higher the numbers, the less pure the water due to minerals and other contaminents increasing general electrical conductivity. I know there's no such thing as super-pure water (or at least, not without incredibly expensive scientific laboratories), but I can at least see that my tap water is less pure than a cheap bottle of tap water. And while the claim of this device is to remove calcium (and only calcium) from the water, the number should begin to go down over time, if the device actually performs up to its claims.I will continue to test my water every other day or so, and return every so often to this review and update it with my findings. I'll let science make a believer or a fool out of me, one way or another. And I'm starting my rating out at 3 stars, which will go down or up depending on what I see happen in the quality of the water over time.
