For someone who's just [begin to] make the jump from 2.5" to 4", this is a lot bigger than I thought it would be which isn't a bad thing. I have this hooked up to my R4512 table saw to allow me to do the 4" -> 2.5" conversion a bit further away from the saw to avoid having too much turbulence right at the base of the saw.

If you're hooking this up to a saw (or similar) with a 4" port, note that you will need a coupler. of some kind. On the Ridgid R4512, I ended up having to cut the coupler down in order to not have too much clipping with the cross bar from the base. A bit of an annoyance but it does work.
