This is a small coastal town romance where two people get a second chance at love and happiness. The story is about Dana, a gift shop owner, and Josh, the mayor of the small town. Both characters have been hurt in the past and have some baggage to get past before than can be happy. It is not an overly long read but a very good one. I love how their story develops. The pace of story is just right as is the build in their relationship. I really love the characters! *I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.*

Dana and Josh were both trying to hide their feelings for each other. But trouble showed up, lots of trouble. The way things were resolved were very interesting and some were a lot of fun. The ending was perfect, a fun surprise.

Willow Bay is a small town on the Washington coast. Idyllic, pristine, friendly are all adjectives that can be used to describe it. But, it’s been a long, rainy winter and there’s not much but the beach to bring the major source of income, tourists, to the town.
Dana Ricci owns the local gift shop. She’s new to Willow Bay, six months, but considers it her home and second chance after a bad marriage. Josh Morgan had his heart broken by a “city woman” and that sent him running to Willow Bay where he’s been welcomed and become the mayor. Both love the town and, secretly, each other. But there are other secrets between them and outside influences that seem to be destined to keep them apart!
This is my first book by Laurie Ryan and I’m quite sure it won’t be my last!

When a slick land developer arrives with grand plans for a resort that would destroy the town, Dana find out her soon-to-be ex husband has run up $200,000 in debts in New York and they want her store to pay it off, then Jett, her ex shows up with more threats. Add the 'homeless' lady, town chacters and a wonderful small town comes together for a happy ending with a surprise from Audrey.

A new author for me and this is the first book in the Willow Bay series. Willow Bay is a beautiful but small town on the Washington coast. Living on the West Coast means lots and lots and lots of rain - rain in the summer and brutally cod rain in the winter. The story is about a new addition to Willow Bay, Dana - she owns the local gift shop and I’d newly divorced and another newbie, Josh who recently had his heart broken. This story is full of romance, but also mystery as we wait for all the secrets to unfold and find out how deeply the will impact them both. I voluntarily received an arc copy of this book from HiddenGems

I loved this story so much I didn't want to end so I was thrilled to read it is the first of a series. All the characters are engaging and the setting so well written I felt I was actually there within the book. A wonderful read which I couldn't put down. Looking forward to the next chapter in the lives of a small West Pacific town.
