In addition to appearance and quality we also made sure to focus on performance. The height of these stands are 36”. The reason we chose this specific height is that after testing stands at other heights we noticed this height was optimal for listening. In addition to performance we also would like to note that at 36” these stands look gorgeous! The included isolation pads not only provide a no-slip surface but help your speakers achieve superior acoustic quality.
Another really cool feature I would like to mention is the empty body design. By adding sand to the body of the stand you can increase the weight if you so choose. The load capacity of these stands are 60 lbs.

After receiving them I was pleased with the two tone finish, granted no real wood but a very well done veneer! After an easy assembly them and before deciding on which of two tops provided, I decided to cut up a large plastic length-wise to assure no moisture would touch the composite wood interior utilizing Gorilla duct tape to seal the cut sides together, l creating a custom container for the sand. Assembly of the unit required 1 Phillips Screw driver. Once that was installed, I started filling it with play sand until 3/4 full. I would suggest you handle all the filling of sand outdoors as it makes for a nice mess. Once full and after installing the top, I was done. I have to say I'm very pleased with the result; a very sturdy stand that allows me to place them easily in any sweet spot of the room.
I HIGHLY recommend the Rockvilles stands as a superior solution for surround speaker placement and have to report I couldn't be happier! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
You could also use them as personal dinner plate trays.
Or they could hold your favorite bust Beethoven maybe?

Came with both rubber feet and carpet spikes, which was perfect because I used the carpet spikes on this and then I used the rubber feet on an outboard sidecar for my rackmount gear that I'd built.
Especially compared to the other options on the market, these are a no-brainer if you need to put your monitors at ear level and feel safe about how well they're going to support your investment.

ASSEMBLY
The included assembly instructions are concise, illustrative and easy to follow. Those with basic handyman skills can complete the assembly, of both stands, within 15 minutes. I used a hand screwdriver to assemble mine, as it would be easy to split the fibre board or drive the (provided) screws fully through the fibre board (bases, speaker platforms and stems) with a power screwdriver. Note that the stand bases (two thickest platforms) and the top speaker platforms (choice of two sizes to suit your speakers) each have four screw holes (covered with black vinyl wrap). All the base and platform screw holes have one end countersunk, to allow the screw head to be recessed.
I purchased these speaker stands because I wanted tall wooden speaker stands to house my small (4kg) active speakers, for an inexpensive price. With a modest price comes compromise. These stands are constructed from fibre (particle) board that has a wood grain vinyl wrap finish. However, the materials (fibre board and hardware) used are of generous sizing. Add, substantial internal bracing and "timber" joinery (stand stem) and you have a pair of solidly constructed speaker stands, when assembled. The order came complete with all necessary parts (fibre board and hardware) to fully complete both speaker stands assembly. The application of the vinyl wrap finish is first rate: clean consistent edges with no bare "timber" showing. At present, the vinyl wrap appears to be well adhered to the fibre board.
Taste will determine whether you like the appearance of these stands. Personally, they are tolerable, due to their comparatively lower cost. I would have appreciated a smoother black vinyl wrap to match the smooth simulated wood grain finish. I think that close-up the finish looks rather artificial, but necessitated by the price paid. A major concern, of mine, is whether the vinyl wrap will peel, crack or split over the next few years.
I use small (4kg) speakers which are very stable on these stands. You can increase the mass of the speaker stands by filling the stem with dry sand (or like). Thus, helping to make them more stable and sonically inert (I didn't bother for my small speakers). However, I imagine that considerably larger speakers (but still within the 60 lb limit), when placed on these stands, could present a stability problem, when bumped. This is due to the combination of larger (heavier) bookshelf speakers, their 36" height and the area of the stand's base (shifting centre of gravity outside the area of the base).
At present (still early days), I'm pleased with my "Rockville RHTSC speaker stands.
