De Belgeonne's book reminds me of the Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT) practices that have been gaining traction in professional settings ( I am not talking as a health professional, this is anecdotal and from a participant perspective) But I digress, this audiobook is relevant and well-placed in time. De Belgeonne describes the current stresses on people in contemporary soceity and how they, in addition to our life experience, creates high levels of pressure, stress, anxiety and mental turmoil
Part autobiography, part guidance - this is an audiobook for today, for now. Essential listening for a calmer day
Thank you very much to Netgalley, Profile Books Audio, Souvenir Audio and the incredible Nahid de Belgeonne for this unbelievably resonant ALC. My review is left voluntarily and all opinions are my own

I was therefore very excited to hear about Nahid’s book, and keen to get stuck in. I have read a lot of material on the mind-body connection and as a long time yoga student and meditator have a real interest in the transformative potential of listening in.
This book provides a comprehensive, factual, no nonsense yet engaging approach which covers anatomy, breath work, a good overview of the components of the nervous system, but most importantly provides genuine strategies and approaches for you to connect more with your body, and unlocking ongoing years of suppressed stress or emotion. It also isn’t grounded in some of the ‘woo woo’ associated with other mind-body books, and provides a nice mix of science, psychology and understanding one’s self as a whole being
If you feel stressed and don’t know why, if you are a busy person who ‘doesn’t have time’ to think about the constant churn of modern life, this books can help you create interventions to just make your life better. Why wouldn’t you?! Go buy!
Try them for yourself and you'll have tools for life which will help you navigate experiences with more ease and grace.
For me the breathing practices when carried out consistently have been truly life changing. Start small and build up and you’ll be amazed with the results.
