I loved the first book, and knew I had to have this one too. Max is funny, irreverent, and brilliant. I love how the book is arranged, full sandwich ideas first, and then dozens of mind-blowing components follow. Even if, like me, you don't eat meat, there are hundreds of ways to put the perfect sandwich together. I'm hungry just thinking of it. For people who, again like me, love reading cookbooks as much as cooking from them, you couldn't ask for a more entertaining guide.

Another thing. You will not find that you are scrambling to find uncommon ingredients for these masterpieces. The beauty of Max's recipes is that he puts things together in a way that makes them delicious and interesting, but the basics are readily available.

Buy it, just buy it. Buy the first one, too, if you don't have it. I don't have the picnic book, but now I have to have that one too.
