This works very well, but it only scores the bottle, if you are expecting it to cut the bottle, it doesn't. It makes a weakened line in the glass in a ring, causing it to break along that ring when you apply heat and cold. Most of the time. Sometimes the glass doesn't play nice.
The reason I dropped to 4 stars...my one complaint...is that adjustments on this device are a bit clunky. Screwdrivers are needed, screws come out, wheels get moved, you have to find the holes for the screws again, then hold the nut while you twist the screwdriver. And then repeat for every wheel you want to adjust. It's not terrible, just clunky. That is my complaint.
Tips:
Most of the time it takes multiple cycles of hot and cold water to break. I keep a bottle of cold water in the fridge. And keep the kettle on while I'm working with the bottle. I use measuring cups with a spout (lip? Pour?) Do I can better control the water flow. Usually takes 3 to 5 cycles for most bottles to cleanly seperate.
I've also discovered one circle on the cutter is best.
Lastly, Patience. It's your friend.
BETTER TIP:
After multiple uses, my new method it: I make an ice bath in a bowl and boil a large deep pot of water. Then (while wearing cut resistant gloves) I put the bottle in the boiling water PAST THE CUT MARK for 10 seconds then ice water for 10, then the boiling water for 5 or 10, then back to the ice bath. After a few cycle between hot and cold, the bottle will separate in one of the two vessels of water along the cut line.
four bottles, and every one was perfect. One was a beer bottle and the others were vodka and were quite thick. EVERY one of them were just perfect with very little sanding to make the edges smooth. DON’T HESITATE, to buy this.
I'd post a pick but I'm afraid some of you might toss your cookies! I won't be responsible for that and it's no fun cleaning tossed cookies off a keyboard.
Careful when you take it out of the box and immediately file that bad boy down or you'll slice your finger off!
Other than that, the cutter works pretty good.
When using this bottle cutter, do NOT apply a lot of pressure. Push just hard enough to hear a crunching noise as you rotate the bottle. The score line does not need to be deep, it just needs to be there.
I wear a glove on my left hand to keep steading downward pressure on the bottle as I grab the bottle
by the neck and rotate with my right hand.
DO NOT go back over any area that you think might need to be scored better. It may leave chips and will more than likely cause the break to veer off the score line.
As I said before, the score line does not need to be deep, it just needs to be there.
And that's all I have to say about that! Happy bottle cutting people!!!

My only question would be that I'm not 100% sure what the gold tool that looks like an Exacto knife is for. I'm guessing to etch on the glass? Regardless -- this is worth the money and I would recommend. Cheers.
I even went so far as to disassemble the scoring blade location and test fit it to my bottles several times. I also adjusted the scoring blade for each bottle but it was super inconsistent. Manufacturer, if you are seeing this, send me one that works and my rating will obviously change. As it is, I can't begin to recommend this item. :(
