The packaging may leave much to be desired BUT, the blanket itself is incredibly high quality. Did not smell weird, and my SON (2.5 years old) loved it. For the first time he slept without moving around all night, snugly under it's gentle caress. He then told me he really loved it as it felt like a gentle hug.
