Corker Hardcover – July 18, 2024

From wine writer and tv presenter Hannah Crosbie, Corker will become the go-to guide that matches wine with life's important (and unimportant) events.

So much of what we drink and how we drink it is rooted in occasion. What bottle do you buy the first time you meet the in-laws? What do you order on a date that’s going well? If it's not going well? What should you drink on a plane? Pairing sage advice with Hannah’s signature tongue-in-cheek humour, this is a deeply unserious wine book that celebrates the joy of everyday drinking.

Corker is a guide for wine novices staring nonplussed at supermarket shelf, as well as wine lovers who might already know their Chablis from their Chenin, but still need some inspiration when picking the best bottle for their budget and the occasion.

K. TAYLOR
5.0 out of 5 stars Unserious, unpretentious and funny wine guide
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 4, 2024
If you want to learn about wine in a humorous and unpretentious manner then this is the book for you! I don’t know my Châteauneuf-du-Pape from my Happy Shopper Polish Liebfraumilch but I know what I like in terms of a light fruity wine that doesn’t cause my sinuses to swell and give me a hangover after one glass.
Hannah provides an insight to types of wine for different occasions and shows that you don’t have to be nervous of a lengthy wine menu.
As for the one star critic, I believe this is the kind of wine snobbery that I detest. There’s no fakery here, just information that helps novices without feeling stupid. It’s an unserious book that had me giggling and trying a few of the suggestions. How can you take a “wine expert” seriously who describes a wine as crunchy? That’s the type of BS snobbery I will steer clear of. Corker is a great book and I highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it and lots of giggles!

Just finished the book, loved it and lots of giggles! Far far more interesting and engaging than other wine books and therefore actually got read instead of just sitting on the shelf like all the others. Congrats!

However, reading this morning was making me really crave a glass of wine and got me thinking, what would be the ‘wine for breakfast’ recommendation… book 2 perhaps🤔

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliantly funny wine book

Very funny take on wine- loved it! found myself LOL-ing. As well as being informative about wine, it's an great read; with life's wine drinking scenarios depicted so well. Can't wait for the next book by this writer, she is so bloody funny.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very funny book about wine
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on March 29, 2024
Preordered book arrived yesterday and I’m loving it - a very funny book about wine. It really feels like wine is demystified in this book, recommendations given by situation rather than accompanying food. I’m much older than the ‘target audience’ (if there is such a thing) but it’s still a great read even if I’ll (thankfully) never need a wine to get me through my period. Ordered more copies for my niece and step-daughter, I know they’ll love it too.
