I first purchased the "manfrotto befree travel" tripod which also includes a fluid head for smooth panning. The fluid head was grindy and wobbled like it might break at any moment. so... I replaced it with this then for 1/6th the price! The befree is definitely sturdier, since it's made from aluminum, but it is not in any way worth what they're asking. This tripod is easier to carry and smaller to pack, with a plastic mount.
Don't underestimate the value of a plastic mounting system, because that means it won't scratch anything! which is largely why this one weighs so little.
While the plastic construction compromises stability, it does a fine job of holding a mirrorless camera with a 350mm zoom lens. It also has the handy hook on the reverse side so you can hang your backpack for some extra heft. (more than adequate for me. my backpack isn't doing anything while I'm shooting, might as well make it useful.)
the best part is you can actually lock the ball head and use a separate panning adjustment without having to purchase a new head!
don't judge it by the price. this is definitely a better buy than a manfrotto befree and probably also the PD, simply because it works so well for so little.

Arca-Swiss compatability
I had recently purchased a Peak Design capture clip and realized that to go from that to my old tripod would require removing the plate every time. This tripod, however, works perfectly with the plate from the capture clip saving me tons of time for when I do need the steadiness of a tripod.

Good quality, inexpensive and upgradable

I don't use a tripod very often, so can't justify investing in an expensive one, but I did already have a good quality ball head. I found that tripods that don't already come with ball-heads are high-end and cost more than I was looking to spend and most of the inexpensive tripods come with heads that either aren't removable or used non-standard connections. The head on this tripod is removable and uses a standard 3/8" threaded head mount, so I was able to easily swap heads. There is also a fairly flimsy feeling plastic weight clip on the bottom of the tripod, but it turns out that also uses a standard 3/8" thread that is easy to swap with a sturdier spring-loaded metal option (plenty of choices available on Amazon). I think the out-of-the box components will meet most people's needs just fine, but hopefully it's helpful to know that you are able to swap parts out if you find you want to make some upgrades in the future.

I like this tripod, does what I need for my canon R50. It’s easy to fold, and travel with, very sturdy and planted. I’m happy with it especially for the price

Don’t waste your time or money with cheaper alternatives. This tripod is great! Super sturdy with the extending legs and locks. Easy to assemble and fold up for putting away. Great deal on this tripod. Look no further! Yes it comes with a phone clamp which was a breeze to install. A+++++

I do (beginner) nature photography, and I've taken this tripod with me to the mountains half a dozen times since purchasing this tripod in November. It's a great tripod, but one of the clasps/buckles has snapped, so I am unable to lock in the height of this one leg :( so I permanently have to use it at a shorter height
I wish this tripod were more durable and could last longer, otherwise is a fairly good purchase for the price.
