Good idea but poor execution
A webcam with good picture quality, zoom, AI tracking with speakers and a mic at this price point? Too good to be true? Let’s see.Good picture quality on this tracking camera and the AI tracks well. The gestures to control the camera are a nice idea but they take a little getting used to and personally I had to take off my wrist brace which covers part of my hand to use the gestures at all so a remote would definitely be preferable even if it added $5-$10 to the price.However, the mic on the webcam doesn’t come up as an available mic on any of the software I’ve tried to use Zoom, OBS, Quicktime and Photo Booth with my MacBook Air M2. Maybe an issue with Apple Silicone? Well my Windows 7 laptop and Windows 10 desktop wouldn’t recognize the camera at all. Also, the hinge pins on the mounting base were so loose so that I could not get it to sit at a good angle and had to resort to using a mini tripod. I popped out the hinge screw covers and tried tightening the screws, but they just spun. When I looked at the photos on the Amazon listing, there is a video and the webcam in the video starts out with screw covers, but then a lady comes on exercising or dancing, and the webcam has the hinge screw covers off, which indicates to me that there possibly is a problem with these hinges and AICOCO is aware. I contacted AICOCO support via their website regarding the mic and hinges via their website twice, but received no response regarding the hinge screws or the mic. If these issues were resolved, it’s probably a strong 4-star candidate at this price, but considering the lack of customer service response regarding these issues the webcam at this price turns out to be too good to be true.

The camera comes with a lens cover, which attaches with magnets to the front and back. There is also a tally light which illuminates white when you have the video turned on.
The Aicoco Mount allows you to attach the camera to a deep monitor or thin laptop. There is also a tripod thread so you can mount it on an arm or tripod. As you can see in the photos you can also tilt the camera down if the angle isn’t right – if you are using it with a laptop, you can’t tilt it up.
The microphones work fine in my home office; but in the office I had complaints on calls that they picked up the noise of neighbours; either way you still need a headset if you want to hear what’s going on at the other end.
The great features are the gesture controls, and the motor-powered pan feature.
With an OK gesture at the camera, the tally light goes green, and the camera will physical pan left and right to track you. A palm gesture stops it tracking; and there is a pointing gesture that makes the camera step through two zoom settings and then back to wide angle.
The zoom is digital, but the first step is perfectly usable; and why I think it may be well suited to a small meeting room.
The Aicoco webcam has one trick up its sleeve; you can rotate the front element and the video becomes portrait mode for TikTok or YouTube shorts. I haven’t seen this on a webcam before and it could be very useful to get a locked camera recording. (The rotate view is the image with the tally light on the left of the camera.)
I started commenting on the value; the video quality is fine for work purposes; and will be a step up from a laptop webcam for someone starting on streaming. The tracking features are handy if you like to move about. It doesn’t have the fanciest tracking like; jumping to the person talking in a meeting room; but for the price I shouldn’t expect that. Finally, its small which is why I carried it to work measuring 71 x 44 x 75mm; so, if you want to carry it about its not a problem.
