Private 2016: Trump Cover Hardcover

4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars 21 ratings

Is that really…? Could it be…? A celebrity book like no other. Alison Jackson gives us her unique take on modern celebrity culture. She feeds the voyeur in all of us, providing a sneak peek at the lives of celebrities and public figures. In the latest edition of her PRIVATE book series, the BAFTA and multi award-winning Artist unveils a world where the imagined becomes real, populated by some of the most famous faces of day, including The Royal Family, ‘Kim and Kanye’ and of course, man of the moment, Donald Trump. PRIVATE expertly swings between the outrageous and the all too believable. Using cleverly crafted actors and lookalikes, Alison Jackson ingeniously blurs the lines between fact and fiction –daring to point the lens back at us and our celebrity-crazed culture.

Some of the better documentary photography of our time. You have probably not seen these photos and yet you should. In an of fake news, Jackson nails her subjects, getting right to the core of the matter. There are some celebrities here but these are not PR shots, not staged photos, but behind the scenes real life. Kayne holding Saint and chilling with his iPod. The Queen walking her corgis around her horses or having tea in bed with her corgis. Mick Jagger ironing his laundry. Bill Gates using his iMac. Brangelina picking out their new baby. Donald Trump goofing off with the White House landscaping crew. Jackson has had a long, long career and the book includes some classics that are seen here for the first time. John Kennedy and Marylin Monroe sharing a private moment in the White House, for example, or Princess Diana making a rude gesture. There's so, so much to take in this book. It's a complete bargain at $19.99, you just will not believe what you get for that price. There's no other photo book around that covers so much ground and is both fun and educational. You'll learn things about people you _thought_ you knew well. You can tell, I know, that this is a rave review but I got my money's worth just from the amazing photos of our new president chilling in the oval office and taking selfies with his friends. Private is easily the best photography book this year and likely to be considered one of the classics of the new century. You'll want two copies. No kidding.

A beautifully produced self-published book. Very high quality paper, printing and binding. Proud to own this first edition of Private. Alison Jackson's work is smart, incisively exposing the nature of celebrity today. These images speak less about the voyeuristic desires of audiences and more about the self-aggrandizing exhibitionistic impulses of the famous in the age of instagram, twitter and facebook. Jackson's project is layered with meaning and critique— of viewers, of personalities, of authors, of representation, of digital media, of culture and society. And it is prescient in the questions it raises about how narratives are constructed in these post-truth days of demagoguery and Fake News.

This is a fantastic series of photos. The subjects look so much like their real counterparts.

I had a minor issue with my order, but the seller handled it with superb professionalism and customer service.

5.0 out of 5 stars Prémonitoire

I bought this book as a present for my best friend. She loves celebrity gossip so this book was perfect for her - it's so funny. We loved the photos of all the 'celebs' particularly Wills and Kate and all the royals and what they get up to at home.
Book was great value and delivered really quickly and nicely packaged
