The book is beautiful, inspirational, practical and I love everything about it.
My favorite business book so far ;-)
I think I read the first half three times before the messages started to click with me. Until then, I had the vague impression I needed to learn something from this book... but what...?
About halfway through, I realized that I needed to backtrack a bit. I then read Cron's "Story or Die" and Hall's "Stories that Stick," to better understand my audience, my business, and - in a way - myself.
Then, I was able to go back to "Brand Brilliance" and understand Humberstone's advice on an entirely new, deeper level.
Though that may seem like a roundabout way to craft my marketing and message, it was perfect for me. The visuals in "Brand Brilliance" must have seeped into my brain and... well, they did SOMEthing that started the "ah-HA!" moments that followed.
My website traffic immediately leaped 20% and my book income has been up more than 10% each of the past two weeks. While that might not dazzle many people, the results were so immediate, I know it's related to the domino effect that began when I read the first part of this book.
So, my advice is: Read this book. Even if you think a lot of it doesn't apply to your business, keep reading. Explore more bedrock marketing issues (as I did) if you need to, and then go back to this book. I believe what's in this book - both the text and the visuals - can be a tremendous boost and long-term asset for any marketer... especially those of us with creative careers, working on our own.
