The storyline of Wolfenstein picks up where the events of Return to Castle Wolfenstein left off. You play B.J. Blazkowicz, a highly decorated member of the Office of Secret Actions (OSA). You are sent on a special mission into the heart of the Third Reich to investigate evidence of the Nazi's possession of a new and mysterious power. But while behind enemy lines, you discover they have done much more than develop a new weapon. The Nazis are attempting to harness the supernatural power of an enormous energy source called 'Black Sun' which resides in a parallel dimension called 'The Veil.' Their goal is to use what they find to create supernatural weapons and soldiers of war-ending magnitude. Yours is to stop that from happening by any mean necessary.
Gameplay
Even though the game obviously features loads of Nazi enemies, Wolfenstein is not so much a World War II game, as a game centered around "dark science" and "Supernatural Science fiction." In it players move between the the parallel dimension of the Veil and that of our own as they command an enormous arsenal of conventional weapons or unleash the Nazi's own dark powers and perverted science against them with supernatural weapons and Veil-enhanced firepower. One of the major strengths of Wolfenstein is that it allows you to choose the way you want to play. Although as in previous games in the series B.J. Is a one man wrecking crew, he also works with a local resistance group. This means that players have the choice to follow the standard missions as they are revealed, take on requests from the resistance to explore the gameplay area and investigate the Nazi experiments, or to tackle the whole endeavor in multiplayer mode.
Veil Power
A huge part of Wolfenstein's sci-fi identification comes via gameplay that relies on the accumulation and use of a number of 'Veil Powers'. These powers though supernatural in origin, are used in large part by B.J. To magnify the effectiveness of his conventional weaponry and tactics. A sampling of these powers include: 'Mire,' which allows you to slow down time around B.J. So that he can take out enemies and obstructions such as machine gun nests, without the risk of taking severe damage; 'Veil Sight,' a sort of supernatural night vision that helps you see enemies in the dark; and 'Veil Shield,' which absorbs bullet fire and can be used as a battering ram in some circumstances. As with all the weapons in the game, all Veil Powers can be upgraded and indeed must be in some cases to proceed through the game. A notable caveat that comes along with the mastery of Veil Powers is that they do not necessarily guarantee overall success. As the game proceeds, the Nazis become aware of B.J. And his understanding and use of these powers and in response distribute 'Veil Inhibitors,' devices that negate the use of these Veil-powered abilities within range of them. This opens up a puzzle-solving aspect within Wolfenstein that require players to explore the environments around them to find the inhibitors and destroy them in order to proceed.
Key Features
- Amazing Enemies - You never know what ferocious enemies the Nazis will throw at you next as they bring their dark fantasies to life.
- Epic Combat Moments - Experience movie-like epic action sequences as you fight to prevent the Nazis from unleashing the power of the Black Sun, a war-ending weapon of supernatural mass destruction.
- Unique Environments - Explore the mysteries of The Veil, a world between our reality and the occult underworld that offers you combat advantages but also new supernatural threats.
- Impressive Firepower - Go to battle with a diverse collection of Allied, Axis and experimental Nazi weapons. Earn gold by working with the resistance fighters, purchase upgrades in the black market, and customize your personal arsenal.

Wolfenstein features a wide array of Allied, Axis and supernatural Nazi weapons. This escalation of firepower is important in order to match the growing power of mini-bosses and bosses faced with each successive game level.

I didn't feel ripped off until I "attempted" to play MP. I don't remember there being a public beta for this game. Hell, I didn't know the game was being released until I happened upon a video on Youtube. I'm sure if they ran a public beta the people who have been waiting for this game would have canceled their pre-orders. Now a month after release, Amazon is selling it at a reduced price (32% off!?), that fact surely speaks volumes.
Having played both RTCW multi-player (MP) and Enemy Territory heavily for about 3 years, this game's version of MP is sadly disappointing. Both RTCW and ET had a unique flavor for MP which I enjoyed. The MP in this game seriously lacks polish and inovation, the maps seem to be speedball arena's, something you would eventually see released from the mod community. It's like they focused on making this game JUST for the consoles, hell they expect you (by default) to have a console controler for your PC. I don't like playing FPS's on consoles, aiming is usually akward and slow compared to the controls of a keyboard and mouse.
I seriously would pay money for id software/Activision to simply just improove on the graphics and gameplay of RTCW/ET MP to modern PC's.
Like most first-person shooters you can carry an unnatural amount of weapons and ammunition on you at any time, which I'm okay with. Like with Wolfenstein games of the past you'll get the standard realistic WWII weapons (German ones only) as well as the not so realistic sci-fi weapons (Tesla gun, particle weapons, among others). And by the way disintegrating Nazis with the particle weapon is a lot of fun. Throughout the game you have the option to add some very handy upgrades to your weapon using gold you've collected throughout the levels at the Black Market stores.
I'll start with the good things. The music is first class, at times you get the feeling you're listening to the soundtrack for Indiana Jones. The sound effects are well done as well, weapon sounds have a very satisfying punch to them. The graphics and textures are top notch, whether walking through a street in a town in Germany or through a cavern underground the textures are colorful and the models are extremely detailed from guns to characters. The story itself is engaging and entertaining and the cut scenes only make the story better. Load times on this game are super short, the main menu loads in less than 5 seconds and level loads are a maximum of 10 seconds. Overall there are more good things than there are bad and if you are looking for a good game that will keep you occupied for several hours and is definitely worth the money.
Now for the bad, keep in mind these things don't outweigh the numerous good things, these are just some things that annoy me a great deal and in some cases make me feel that the developers either gave up on some things or just didn't care. For starters, the absolute worst of them is no anti-aliasing, I'm not sure if this was developed first for XBOX and then ported to PC or not but I don't care, computer screens these days have extremely high resolutions and often times the users of computers aren't sitting much further away than a few feet and nothing is more annoying and destructive to the realism of a PC game than jagged edges on the edge of every object. Every once in a great while a great game is released that is marred by the absence of anti-aliasing, and lately I've been hearing the excuse that the type of rendering that the game uses doesn't allow for anti-aliasing which I think sounds like giving up. Enough on that. A strange bug is that I seem to be having problems getting the key binding for a grenade throw to stick to what I told it, not sure what thats all about but a patch may take care of that. The last thing is, if you plan on running this game at a high resolution with the quality settings higher up, make sure you have a really good video card, my year and a half old card just couldn't handle it (this isn't really a problem with the game, just something to keep in mind) so I had to crank the resolution down to make it play with a good framerate.
Get this game if you want to be entertained and have a machine that can handle it and don't mind the lack of anti-aliasing than you're in for a good time.

The graphics are nice, storyline is a bit surprising but the game is really good.
It doesn't bring back the feeling of playing Wolf 3D in the Windows 98/2000, but still, a great game to play and enjoy!!
