As soon as I got it I raced home to play it. It's very much like playing the attraction at Disney California Adventure, but there are new scenes, and it is NOT in 3D. With PS3 having 3D capabilities you would think that they WOULD have created it with a 3D playable mode!
My favorite feature of this game is the "PARTY MODE". Once there the "Toys" decide what game comes up next in the roster and you can play all you want, switch off with other people between games, etc. The only difficulty I see here is if you want to exit Party Mode to choose another mode of game play. From what I can tell... YOU CAN'T. You need to exit out of the ENTIRE game and start over again. I suppose if you are on party mode that's what you want to stay in and do, but for casual party players like me? I want the choice to switch out of it to another mode.
All in all, though it is very fun for an evening of entertainment, and it's quite mindless, really. It IS a bit harder than the attraction in the Disney parks, though... beware of pies!
When I saw this on another website, I knew I had to buy it for my girlfriend. We've played it for well over 20 hours, so far, with no end in sight.
Great game. Well worth the money.
Also, as stated in the headline: you DO NOT NEED to have a Move controller to play this game. (There are a few times when you might benefit from it, but I got all of the trophies without any real trouble using my standard PS3 controller.)
However, this game is about as basic (and plain) as can possibly be. There are multiple "attractions" that you can play through, each with several levels within it, however the levels are repetitive, simple, and lack creativity. And the layout of levels is aesthetic at best... it's mostly the same level over and over... and over... again. Move your cursor to aim with the left stick, hold down the right trigger button and move around as much as possible (that's it). To make the game more exciting, the developers decided that throwing pies at you and making you move the right stick to avoid them would add flair and excitement. It didn't. It was annoying if anything at all. And considering you got this to play with your kids (because it's not enough to keep an adult excited for more than a few minutes) dodging pies is useless when your kid keeps missing it and the pie covers the entire screen anyway.
My 5 year old gets bored before we finish a set of shooting galleries nearly every time. Look at the game and read the description and expect nothing more. There aren't tons of hidden secrets (a few but not a ton), lots of variety or even a moderate amount of fun. I gave the review 3 stars as its exactly what it is expected to be... I shouldn't have built it up so much in my own head... but honestly, I almost want to give it 2. But let's face it, no one reads the 2 star reviews anyway. If you buy this for really cheap, it may be worth it. i got it on a good deal so I don't feel cheated, but had I spent anything but minimum price, I would have been upset.
Overall it is what it is. Expect nothing more and you won't be disappointed. However, don't expect more than what you see either.
He loves the game. It puts a smile on his face. Great game to also play with the family. Its a similar type of game play as the ride at California Adventures (Buzz light year ride). It's a carnival type game with paintballs. You hit targets such as ballons and other figures and you get points.
Cheers!
