Product Overview
From the critically acclaimed director, Hideo Kojima, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for PlayStation®Vita includes two of the most popular Metal Gear Solid titles from the past in true HD. Featuring both Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, the HD Collection offers gamers a chance to experience the epic gameplay, design and storytelling of the MGS franchise with all-new features including optimized controls designed to take full advantage of the Vita's touch-screen capabilities, a rebalanced user interface, along with trophies and game-saves that can be shared via TRANSFARRING (save data sharing) with the PS3 version of MGS HD Collection.
The "Metal Gear Solid (MGS)" series is the seminal work of Hideo Kojima, Japan's master game creator, and the progenitor of the stealth action game genre. With more than 31 million units sold to date, the Metal Gear series has become a global phenomenon. The player controls a secret agent from an elite special forces unit who is sent on solo stealth missions through enemy installations, vast jungles, and sometimes even the thick of battle. Alone and surrounded by the enemy, even a special forces agent will find it tough to come out alive. But that is the secret behind the series' popularity-the cerebral challenge of figuring out how to avoid combat, and the thrill of sneaking through enemy territory undetected.
Along with the gameplay, the MGS series is also known for its storyline, which blends seamlessly with the gameplay. The scenarios are based on extensive research and incorporate the drama of actual developments in society. These elements have made MGS what it is today: a mature work of entertainment that transcends national borders and the confines of video games, and one of the leading products of the Japanese content business.

METAL GEAR SOLID 2: SONS OF LIBERTY
After the Shadow Moses incident, technological data on the nuclear-armed walking tank Metal Gear leaks onto the black market. Solid Snake and his allies form the anti-Metal Gear NGO "Philanthropy" and set out in pursuit of a tanker carrying a new Metal Gear prototype. But Snake falls into a trap set by former FOXHOUND member Ocelot, and is believed lost along with the tanker at the bottom of the Hudson River. Two years later, the Big Shell, an oil spill cleanup facility constructed on the bay, is taken over by terrorists led by a man claiming to be the long-lost Solid Snake. The government sends Raiden, a new recruit in the new FOXHOUND, to infiltrate the Big Shell and rescue the US President, who is held hostage inside... The underlying theme of this second entry in the series is "memes," or cultural genes.

METAL GEAR SOLID 3: SNAKE EATER
The story shifts back in time to 1964, the height of the Cold War. Naked Snake-the man who would later become the legendary mercenary known as Big Boss-heads into Soviet territory to help the scientist Sokolov defect to the West. But the mission ends in failure due to the betrayal of Snake's mentor and mission advisor The Boss, a female soldier known as "the Mother of Special Forces." The Boss defects to the Soviet Union, taking a miniature nuclear warhead with her as a gift, which her new hosts promptly launch at a Russian research facility. Naked Snake heads once more into the Soviet Union on a mission to kill The Boss... The third MGS game tells the story of men and women who struggle to remain loyal even while their fates are at the mercy of the ever changing political "scene."

Mgs2: sons of liberty
And
Mgs3: snake eater
The gameplay is very fun sneaking and shooting! Hideo kojima thinks of everything in these games! An example is making snake actually dizzy by rotating him round and round in mgs 3. Which can be quite useful if you are poisoned or want to distract a guard. This is gonna be outdated in a few months when the master collection releases. But I’d recommend this game for the vita if you want to play mgs 2 and 3 on the go and only have a ps vita
You'll notice in the review some people rate the game badly because of the control scheme. It isn't BAD, but I can totally see how someone new to the series who's just starting here may find it a bit awkward at first. DONT let that discourage you. You'll get used to it, and see just how amazing these two games really are.
If you're a Metal Gear fan or looking to get into the series, and have the Vita, or thinking about getting a Vita, this is a must have! It's a no brainer. The story is amazing, the graphics are amazing, and the gameplay is really smooth! You can't go wrong here. I highly reccomend buying this!
I want to thank shipper for providing great customer service and great quality.
*-Are a graphics wh@re.
*-Don't have patiente.
*-Are a kid.
*-Don't like cinematics.
*-Have no interest in the game story.
If you meet any of the above just pass because you'll throw $40 to the trash and ruin the game score with an awful review. If you don't keep reading.
I'll split the review in parts:
***************************Metal Gear Solid HD Collection***************************
Score: 1/10
I feel scammed and upset because we paid as much as the PS3 users but we get 1 game less. Hideo Kojima excuse was that MGS: Peace Walker was already on PSP but if they didn't want to port it they could have just lowered the Vita version price or include a MGS: PW voucher, I don't blame Kojima tho, Sony's trying get every peny out of us they've become very greedy with the Playstation Vita.
*
*************************Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty*************************
Score: 9.6/10
The good:
[*]60+ hours of gameplay: This game has a lot of content and things to do, if you're not a trophy hunter or just not interested on anything else than finish the game it will probably give you about 10 hours but if you want to complete 100% of the game you'll get more than 60 hours of fun.
[*]Good graphics: Graphics are better than any PSP game and even when there's not actual remastering it looks beautiful on the Vita's OLED screen.
[*]Good story: The story is really good it has a lot of turns specially when you're about to finish the game the things starts to turn really weird (I still have goosebumps everytime I get there) and when you finish the game you'll be like "WOW WTH, I HAVE TO PLAY MGS 3 RIGHT NOW!"
[*]A lot of fun wtf stuffs: This is one the things I love about this game, details, this game has tons details and things like you can use adults magazines to distract guards, you can see ghosts, guards playing rock-paper-scissors, use boxes to move around the facilities through the conveyor belt in the plant chapter, take photos of the pictures of girls wearing bikini and send it to Otacon and watch his face or play with yourself, see marines in underpants and a lot of other things that I wont metion because I dont want to ruin your experince.
The Bad:
[*]First person view is horrible (VR Missions): First person view in the VR Missions is horrible it's like play Counter-Strike with the mouse and the arrows instead of WASD, it's so frustrating. This only affects alternative missions (VR Missions) so don't worry about it.
[*]FPS drop: Sometimes the fps drops under 20-30 most of all when you're using the Stinger but most of time the game runs at 60fps.
[*]Choosing items is annoying and the screen ends all smudged: You have to use your fingers to choose the items so if you have big fingers you'll cover items names and it takes about 1 second to choose it so if you want to make a fast switch you wont be able to, also the screen ends all dirty because you have to constantly touch the screen.
This game needs a lot of patiente if you're a newcomer, I deleted it 4 times before giving it a real try and now I love it, I've spent about 70+ hours playing it and I still have things to do, this game it's a diamond, most of games nowadays are really short (about 3-4 hours of gameplay) and have no content or it's on DLC's, MGS: Sons of Liberty has a lot of content and hours and hours of fun.
*
***************************Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater***************************
Score: 9.5/10
The good:
[*] You can choose between camera modes: There are two camera modes: 3rd person where you can use both sticks (YAY!) and normal (isometric) like MGS 2.
[*] Outstanding graphics: The graphics are hugely improved compared to MGS 2.
[*] Tons of items: There are a 29 weapons, 48 food items, 13 healing items and many other items.
[*] New cure option: You can heal yourself using several healing items instead of eat a Ration like MGS 2.
[*] New combat system: Theres a new hand-to-hand fighting system called CQC (Close Quarters Combat) and it allows you to drag enemies, interrogate, use them as shield and many other things that are not available in MGS 2.
The Bad:
[*] No replay value: While i've finish MGS 2 about 12 times, I dont think i'll play MGS 3 again, the game it's great but it didn't catch me like MSG 2.
[*] Not so great story: MGS 3 destroyed my vision of Snake as a super hero, you'll understand why when you play the game. Also the story is plenty of bad japanese cliches it's freaking horrible.
[*] FPS drop: no surprises here, most are during cinematics though.
[*] Long saving times: It takes about 15-25 seconds to save the game.
[*] First person view: Still the same as MGS 2 (not VR Missions).
The game is great it has a lot of new things and it keeps the essence of MGS 2 but I found that I really didnt have fun playing it which didn't happend with MGS 2 but as I said before the game is great and that was just my experience, I have friends that love MGS 3 and find MGS 2 not that good, so it depends of every person taste.
*
**************************************OVERALL**************************************
I don't recommend anyone that owns a PS3 to buy this game because as I said before both versions cost the same but the Vita version has 1 game less, anyways if you don't have a PS3 this game is a must buy, the only bad thing I found about this HD Collection (besides the cost thing) is that there's not MSG 4 for Vita and I want to play it really bad.
