The Windows Vista of Gran Turismo Games
5 Stars
The Windows Vista of Gran Turismo Games
The Windows Vista of Gran Turismo Games!!! This is the perfect title for the review. Gran Turismo 5 has excellent graphics, 100-1000s of cars, and exciting events. But there are several things that are holding it back from being perfect. One is the standard cars, 800 of them. The Standard cars are the used cars in the game, all of them were ported from Gran Turismo 4. The Standard cars are disquised as GT5 cars, but if you look at them close up they have a rough appearence. The loading times between the menus is atrocious, to race it takes almost a single minute to get to the race menu and to the race. The number of A Spec race events are good, but for Gran Turismo they are not that good. Back in Gran Turismo 3 there were about 30 events per level, such as beginniner etc. In Gran Turismo 5 there are 9 events per level. Gran Turismo 5 just feels like they threw it out onto the market, not being finished. It took them 6 years, 6 years for it to come out. Gran Turismo 5 has the feel of Gran Turismo but has an odd feel. It feels extremely heavy, and as if it is sucking the PS3s power extremely. The photo mode in the game is kind of fun, you can walk around and explore the photo areas and take pictures of people even. I am displeased with the amount of tracks, Polyphony claims 71 tracks, but they are reverse and other iterations of the same tracks. Take note, if you are a big Gran Turismo fan, you will notice some of the nicest tracks are missing. Some of the greatest tracks missing from GT5 are Midfield, El Capitan, Seattle Circuit, Apricot Hill Raceway, and those are the tracks that make Gran Turismo, Gran Turismo. There are many imperfections in the tracks, that I have noticed. The water is still in the lakes in Trial Mountain, the sky seems like artwork and still, and mostly the tracks seem like they were upscaled from Gran Turismo 4, with the exception of the Special Stage Route tracks. The Menus in Gran Turismo 5 are good, however, it is very hard to explain how they are. The menus in GT5 have improved significantly from GT4, but now they seem very laggy. For video games, you want to play the game, not haggle through menus. They made a major mistake with the menus in Gran Turismo 5, because it seems now like a computer operating system, rather than a game menu. I have played months of Gran Turismo 5 so far, and the best word to describe it is good. The Standard Cars (gran Turismo 4 models), I think, ruined the game. I advise anyone playing Gran Turismo 5 to use the Premium Cars at all times when possible. I sell any standard car I get when I win one. Because the Playstation 3 is designed for internet gaming, Gran Turismo 5 can be perfected through updates as time goes on. Polyphony should get rid of all of the standard cars and just utilize the current amount of premium cars that are in the game right now. If you want a good racing game to play, get Gran Turismo 5 definitely. It has by far, the best car physics in the world. Polyphony is one of the few companies that put effort into the games that they make.
