The production date was 01/13 with an exp of 12/17, recieved on 02/13, so wasn't sent with a lot of time off of the use by date. This is apparently a big deal with emergency rations, because they are often sold with 2-3 years wasted in a ware house. So the company seems to be doing a good job all around as far as I can see. I'll be enjoying these bars at school for lunch for the next 2 weeks, and will quickly buy 2 more packs for the bug-out bag.

Have now purchased a total of 5 of these food packs. All 5 had perfectly sealed packaging, none were more then 2 months older then then manufacturing date when they arrived. Of the two packages that have been opened, one had 9 individually sealed bars with very secure seals, the other had a few bars with what seemed lightly wrapped seals. The over all freshness of both packs seemed adequate. I've been letting the second package age and comparing how the bars taste at one week intervals after the main seal is broken. No noticeable taste change, even unsealed, the bars are designed to last for a long time. Taste is still acceptable, maybe even good, and I've enjoyed bringing them as lunches for long days.
A decent buy.
The package is much smaller than I thought it would be so it is easier to pack and carry if needed.
The package is about 4-3/4 high, 4-1/2 wide and about 2-1/2 thick and 1lb 13oz in weight.
May be little heavy for carrying a lot of these in a pack for the weaker survivors but they're sooo good for all the nutritious goodness each bar contains.
My package came very well packaged and totally vacuum sealed. I don't concern my self with the package breaking because it will be stored quietly until needed. I'm not likely to subject it to any sort of beating until it is blown away, washed away, or destroyed in the catastrophe, so the freshness should be just fine after the disaster, if someone finds it.
A lot of reviewers concerned themselves with the taste and texture. This is irrelevant to me as if this is the last thing you have to eat it will be like a 5 star restaurant compared to tree roots, thick insects or charcoal your neighbors will be eating. It's the nutrition that counts.
I am so pleased and satisfied to know that I and all of you who have purchased this grand food survival package will live 72 hours longer than the rest of you who, unfortunately, failed to place your orders in timely manner.
We remainders shall organize and set up to collect and bury the rest of you who died way to soon.
